The only Specialized product I have is my seat. The rest of it's
Cannondale, the R600 Triple model. It's in great shape. Three and a
half years and no problems to speak of. As Ferris Bueller said, "If
you have the means, I highly recommend getting one."
The best things about the bike are a) the Shimano gear levers
integrated with the brake handles, b) the third chain ring, and c)
the aluminum construction of the frame. To break it down:
a) It's the only way to ride. Having to reach down to the down tube
to shift is just awkward, IMO.
b) You can climb a wall with that third chain ring. It's really nice
to have if you start cramping about 4 miles from the end of Day 1 of
the MS150. :-)
c) It may transfer all the bumps of the road into you, but over the
long haul, you'll love that the bike is lighter than the steel one
you just gave to Goodwill. When you want to *go*, you go. Speed
kicks ass.
You may not want to pay more than $1k for a bike, but believe me,
it's well worth it. Just plunk down the plastic and worry about it
later.
