Argonaut Death Ride Redux

9:00 AM
60-70 mi, 6 M

aka: Tour of the Argonaut Alps II. As matching bookend to another Argonaut Monday/Thursday Season, your esteemed ride leader would like to host a Death Ride Redux by hitting the toughest goats in ONE DAY that we climb all through the season. Meet and be ready to roll at 9 AM at the Argonaut Shopping Center on Sunnyvale-Saratoga road east side just south of Pierce in Saratoga. Park at Mountain Mikes Pizza. There are numerous bail-out points for those not interested in the full ride. Co-listed with Team Alameda. Wet Pavement cancels.

So, I will be driving, and since Dan has driven a lot lately, I owe him a ride, so I will have room for two people and one more bike (my rack only holds 3 bikes).  I am trying to convince my wife that she could spend a good amount of time in downtown Saratoga and Los Gatos, as well as having some refreshments for us at the top of Sanborn (end of climb 3 of 5), but no guarantees on support.  I will identify all water stops, and downtown Saratoga has a variety of stores.

So, starting the carpool list: Pryor, DRDan, one more rider and bike (assuming my wife comes along).  I will also post this on the Forum.  Come back at me with carpools; don't assume you can show at Kaiser and get a ride down.

Remember, this is a very difficult ride, but there are bailouts from every climb (it's all centered around downtown Saratoga, and it's easy and straight-forward to get back to the cars at the Argonaut Center).  For directions, just google map the following address:

Mountain Mike's Pizza

12850 Saratoga Sunnyvale Rd
Saratoga, CA

We park at the north end of the lot around the side of Mountain Mike's.

"When you get down to the bare bones of it, just being on the road with some of your buddies, no matter how old you are, you never lose that boyish feeling.  That's what cycling's all about." -- Davis Phinney, former Pro Cyclist

"We can't say we ride to make money or to achieve fame. We ride because it feels good, it makes us healthier and it satisfies a deep need for challenge and competition, if only with ourselves." Fred Matheny

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW--What a Ride!" Anon.

"Religion does three things quite effectively: divides people, controls people, deludes people." Carlespie Mary Alice McKinney
