Team Alameda Club President Casey Wilson, a League of American
Bicyclists Certified Instrctor will be presenting an in-depth cycling
safety course on Sunday, June 29 from 1-5pm in meeting room A at the
Alameda Free Library on Lincoln & Oak Streets.
The class is offered FREE to Team Alameda members--non-members can
attend, as well, for a nominal $5 fee.
Details: This course is designed & recommended for all levels of
cyclists who ride their bikes on the roads or trails. Through lecture,
discussion, power point, and video presentations, you'll learn (or
maybe be refreshed) about California law and how cyclists fit in to
it--both in writing and while riding. You'll pick up valuable
information on crash avoidance, emergency maneuvers, and traffic
negotiation. Finally, you'll leave more confident in your ability to
make independent and safe choices while riding with the group!
The class would be great for ride leaders or aspiring ride leaders,
and is required if you are planning to become an League Certified
Instructor.
This course is all in the classroom. No one needs to bring their
bike... unless you're riding it to the class!
Light refreshments will be provided, but please eat lunch before you come.
Please RSVP to Casey by 6/25 if you're interested in attending! See
the topic in the "if it don't fit elsewhere" section of the TA Forums
for Casey's RSVP email address.
