Subject: [teamalameda] Santa Cruz Overnight Ride - April 26-27 - Details

The overnight ride to Santa Cruz  has been put together. This should be two really epic days of cycling with spectacular scenery, and great company. The date for this ride is Saturday April 26th and Sunday April 27th.

There will be two ride options, Long and Short. The short ride will feature SAG support.

The Ride
Long riders will have a 78 mile ride on Saturday, and a 95 mile ride on Sunday.

Short riders will be transported by car from Alameda to Half Moon Bay on Saturday, and transported by car back to Alameda from Half Moon Bay on Sunday. The Short ride will travel 53 miles on Saturday, and 53 miles on Sunday.

The long riders will meet up with the short riders at Half Moon Bay on Saturday, and ride down to Santa Cruz together as a group.

  • There will be a rest stop at Pigeon Point Light House. (fantastic place to take a break).
  • The Road - Hwy One for the most part has a wide shoulder for the bikes, and is in great shape.
  • Detailed Maps are being made up for each rider to have.
  • This is a sag supported ride.

Lodging - The Mission Inn is located at 2250 Mission Street, Santa Cruz. It is a clean hotel, has a great little court yard to relax in after your ride and is walking distance from three restaurants.
  • Rates are $90.00 for a double, and $80.00 for a single, a continental breakfast is included in the price.
  • Reservations call 1-800-895-5455 to make your reservation, let them know that you are with Team Alameda. I have rooms blocked off     that are on hold for the club.
  • Please have your reservation made to the Mission Inn and ride confirmation to Team Alameda by no later than Friday March 28th.

Food - There are three restaurants with in walking distance of the Mission Inn, Mexican, Thai, and Italian. I would like to get a vote on the type of food everybody wants so that I can make a reservation ahead of time.

Each rider that is confirmed will receive a packet with suggested items to bring for the ride, and a detailed map. There will be a drop off site for your clothes. In addition start times and places will be included. The total cost for the ride should be under $150.00, that is a good deal!

If you have any questions at all feel free to call Dan DeBardeleben (Death Ride Dan) at #415-722-5207. Old Death Ride Dan says this will be a good one, don't miss it.
