Everyone:

If you open this link, it shows several of the climbs that my Almaden
Cycle Touring Club (ACTC) Monday and Thursday night group do:
Montebello (5.3 mi at 10%+), Bohlman/On-Orbit (4.3 mi at 20% in
spots), Highway 9 (7+ miles at 4 - 8%)...all great climbs (On Orbit is
a gut and quad buster).

This series has fees associated with it--our ride up Hamilton on
Turkey Day is FREE!

The only hills in Alameda are speed bumps....do they count as local hills? inquiring minds want to know..............

But if you plan your route correctly and wear baggy clothes, you can take advantage of 15-20mph headwinds...which impersonate elevation.... Peter Deutsch...
