Please join me in wishing Mark good luck as he takes on the Silverman
full ironman this Sunday in Nevada. Silverman (www.silvermannv.com) is
billed as the "toughest course in North America", and this will be
Mark's first. Good luck, Mark, and have fun!
That doesn’t look like the one I
have, but I’ll check the make and model. Thanks so much for bringing
awareness! I definitely don’t need another fall on the road!

I just spotted this recall announcement for certain Time
pedals. Don’t know a lot of triathletes who use them, but it looks like
it could lead to a serious fall if you have a problem, so it’s probably
worth passing around.
I have some yoga tapes you could look at
that are awesome.
I also have a nutrition program on the
computer I could run through with you.
We plus in your nutrition diary and it’ll
let us know where you’re deficient, what you have too much of and how you
need to eat to get to your weight goals. I use it on my clients. It’s
invaluable!!
Let me know if you’re interested. I
currently have three clients I am personal training and would like to add 1 or
2 more.

A couple of my off-season goals are to:
1. Increase my flexibility
2. Lose about 10 pounds
Related to #1, I am looking for some resources/ideas on stretches to
increase flexibility and, perhaps, a yoga class in the Anoka area.
Relative to #2, I am looking for a trainer/nutritionist who can work
with me through the winter months to help me adjust my diet and/or
workout routine.
Any suggestions? Hope you all had a great season!

Everything is on hold right now until I meet with Libby from
Erik's.
There are most likely some major changes being made and you'll want
to hold off until then.

Eric is right that the membership year
starts in January. Historically, though, when folks have joined either
late or after the season, we’ve simply carried that membership over
through the next year, so there’s no reason not to get the process
rolling now.

Ok...so I have been a bit lax in checking my mail and now see you have moved. I just want to wish you well! Are you going to stop doing tri's or is there a chance you will go back to it?
You may know that Tri-Zone, a mail order triathlon gear retailer, is a
sponsor of the Twin Cities Triathlon Club. I recently discovered that
they offer a 15% discount to TC-Tri club members.
To get the discount on an internet order, use the code TZ-TCTRI in the
coupon/promotion area of the check-out page. Go to tri-zone.com or
link to it from the tctri.com home page. They have some good specials
and free stuff with purchase going on right now. Happy shopping!
It looks like we'll have about 20 riders, based on commitments from TCBC and MORC members. Come on out and join us.

be there earlier, some will arrive later, some will come & go throughout the day.....BUT COME & RIDE WHEN YOU CAN!
If you would like to commemorate your own STUPID ride, Tim Brinkman has done some great work with a T-shirt designer so you can wear your STUPID shirt with pride. Please contact him @ email address below, or talk with him Saturday.
Some have asked about our ride format for the day. We'll all be riding our laps at our own pace on the 4.6 mile loop and meeting at "rest breaks" near our vehicles in the grassy parking area. Bring your cooler, a comfy chair and your best attitude for a Fun-filled Day!

I spoke with Mark Birchard who is a good friend of Brad's this
morning. Brad's son will be staying with other family until Brad
comes home.
At mile 26 Brad suffered a heart attack and was taken to the
hospital where he had two stents put in. This is to make sure those
arteries will stay open and not become blocked again. He was put
into an induced coma to allow his body to recover from the strain of
both the Ironman and the Marathon. They ice you down and heavily
sedate you to allow the body to rest. They will be bringing him
slowly out of this state within the next 24 hours. Please pray for
him and his family over the next 24 hours especially and throughout
this week. Hopefully he'll be discharged later this week if all
goes well. Brad has no prior history of health issues so this was a
surprise to all of his family and friends.
If you'd like to do something for the family, please let us know.
I'm sure as he comes home, meals and friends to help out with his
son would be much appreciated. We'll keep you updated as we find
out more. Thanks so much for all your support. Team Under
Construction has also been notified and may be organizing some
support for Brad and his family.

I have some very sad news for the group. Brad Huckle, one of our more active members, experienced significant medical problems at mile 26 of the twin cities marathon yesterday. He's currently at Regents Hospital. I don't have a lot of details -- Ingrid will be passing on more info later today. As I understand it, he's not in a position to receive any visitors right now. The next day or two are very critical for him, though, so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
Brad is a very tough guy -- he completed IM WI just a few weeks ago and was running strong until the end of the Marathon yesterday. I know we're all pulling for him. For anyone who wants to help Brad or his family, we'll pass info along as soon as we have anything for you.

Many of you found out about us through the bicycling expo last March. They've agreed to let us be there with a booth for free again this year. In order to get it free, I have to do a presentation both days. I'm willing to do this only if we have enough people from the team volunteer to come down and man the booth. I can't be there 9-10 hours both days again. It's too tough on my work schedule and my son.
The expo is March 3 and 4. Please contact me if you'd be willing to come down for about 4 hours to volunteer. You'll get free passes into the expo in exchange for your time. Thanks in advance. Any questions about the expo? You can call me. Ingrid Melander 612.747.3887
What you did. At the last Bike Expo, you and Hans-Juergen encouraged me to join the TCTC. Then you shared info about gear, training and motivation in private e-mails. I also received two (not sure why two, but I'm keeping them ;-) T-Shirts and swimming caps - love the shirts, never use the swim caps. You're a great promoter of triathletics! It sounds like you do a lot for the club - hope they appreciate it. My schedule doesn't allow for involvement with many social events (and I didn't join the club for that) but I hope to meet some other club members some day. I'll be the guy crossing the finish line after the rest of you have showered up.

Great job, Tim. "Non Traditional" tri's can be a real hoot.
As for wearing a wetsuit, you don't have to, but lots of people really
like to. At just about every race, you'll see a number of people
without them. It makes the swimming a lot easier, as it helps you
maintain good body position in the water. It also keeps you a lot
warmer. July & August races are generally OK w/o a suit, but it
can be pretty chilly otherwise. There are some very good reasons that
a wetsuit is generally the first piece of tri-specific gear most people
buy.
For my part, I love being it the wetsuit -- I feel like Batman ;-)

Thanks for the updates! Its great to hear that TCTRI members out there at the Ironmans. I plan on possibly doing the 70.3 Oceanside in March 2007, but its a bit chilly still in the ocean. And maybe the Ironman Arizona in 2008??? I hope to someday to participate in an Ironman, till then, I can enjoy them from your tales!

Definitely a ton of fun - I saw a lot of the port-o-potties on the second half of the run though. Maybe the chicken broth? Not sure, but I felt like I was running from john to john as opposed to gatorade stops....
Molly was
super enthusiastic about finishing her first Ironman. So much so that she didn't sleep too well the night AFTER the event. We both woke up at 5am to eat because we couldn't sleep - too hungry!
I hope everyone is finishing up their races for the season in fine form. Molly and I still have a few more adventure races planned (I have a 24-hour near Biwabik tomorrow) and USARA Nationals are scheduled for the first weekend in November. It'll be good to get a break after that though, as our social lives have been practically non-existent.... ;o)
Happy Racing!
