Candice, You may want to sign up for Turtleman, (turtleman.org) in early August. It's a quasi-Olympic distance race, but is probably the flattest course in MN. Very nice, beginner friendly, and registration opened for it today.
I'm signed up for MinneMan (my first tri ever) and IronGirl duathlon in September. I hope to be signed up for Duluth's Brewhouse tri also, and hopefully another sprint distance race (gotta max my USAT membership benefits!). I'm also doing the MS 150, so if anyone can chip in even $5 to sponsor me, check out the link in my sig line. I've always wanted to do a multi-day charity bike trek, and this year I'm finally going to do it!
If anyone can suggest a beginner friendly tri that's still open, please speak up! Buffalo tri is too close to the MS 150, so I'm looking for something in July or August...
We've got a lot of quiet people out there, and that
won't do. It was above 60F during my drive home today, and when the
weather gets warm, I stop thinking about my plans for the upcoming
season.
This year, I'm signed up for:
Liberty Half
Lake Waconia
Heart of Lakes Long(er)
I'm also planning on getting one or two Olympic-esq
races in, and at least one other Half (most likely Chisago
Lakes and maybe Square
Lake… I need to
gage both my recovery and my wallet).
I'm on pace to be only somewhat under-trained for
Liberty this year (rather than "severely" like I was last), and I
hope to pull as much as 40 minutes off of last year's benchmark, though I'll
be happy with 20.
I can't be the only one who has signed up for a few
events and is making plans. What are you doing, what are you planning,
what are your goals? Anything you're really proud of, worried or
excited about? Let's hear it, don't be shy.
