After a few weeks I was already organising a new and much improved rate. I can't
tell you how much of a relief it is guys to, after 15 years, finally have a bit

Taylor,
My name is Subir Mukerjea. I am a tennis pro at Eastern Hills
Indoor Tennis in Cincinnati, OH. I have been teaching tennis for
the past 25 years and played the circuit prior to that for quite a
while.
I have a remedy for your serve. I love your game very much.
Next to Pat Cash you are the next great serve and vollier. I have
seen you Dad play at Wimbledon. He had one of the best serves in
the game. He knows my brother, Jay Mukerjea, from India.
Anyway, talking about your serve. I read the Cincinnati paper
this morning and read your comment about your serve. That you have
tried everything and you can't get it together. Well, this will
only take a minute to try this remedy.
If you just try this once you have nothing to lose since you
say you have tried everything else. As I see it it is your stance.
You should not place your left foot parallel to the baseline. Point
that foot to the right net post and bring your fight foot slightly
forward. That would help your toss to be more at one o'clock and
would help your weight to shift forward fluently. It would help you
advance to net and be in better posision for the first volley. Your
percent of the first serve will go up 85%.
If this works, please contact me at Subirtennis@... or
also you can give me a call at 513-831-0838.
Please try this. I can almost guarantee you, your serve will
work. You will be hard to beat and I want to see you at the No. 1
spot. I was sorry to see you lose the match to Hewitt because of
your serve. Good luck!
      Thank you,
           Subir Mukerjea

Dent serves his way into 2nd round at Wimbledon
By SANDRA HARWITT, For The Associated Press
June 20, 2005

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- In Taylor Dent's opinion, winning is all about his ability to hold serve, regardless of what his coach might say.

On opening day at Wimbledon, Dent proved that theory to be true, losing only one service game to beat qualifier Dick Norman 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-7 (7), 6-1.

``For me, hitting accurate serves is probably the biggest piece of the pie,'' Dent said after the three-hour, 22-minute victory Monday.

The No. 24-seeded Dent tends to be an independent thinker, and he has had a series of coaches during his seven years on tour.

He arrived at Wimbledon without a coach after severing his most recent alliance with former tour player Francisco Montana following the Key Biscayne tournament in late March.

Dent acknowledged he's frequently at odds with coaches when they disregard his notion about succeeding, pushing him to concentrate on improving his ability to break an opponent's serve.

``I feel like I'm very stubborn when I believe something,'' Dent said. ``If they're going to say, `Oh, jump off the Empire State Building, you'll be fine,' I'll say, `But, you know, gravity is going to happen and it's a hard floor down there, what about that?' And they say, `No, no, you'll be fine.'

``You know, forgive me if I don't jump.''

Two other American men also won, and two lost. Dent next plays compatriot Kevin Kim, who beat British wild card Alex Bogdonovich 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Lucky loser Justin Gimelstob, who has never gone beyond the third round at Wimbledon, defeated Adrian Garcia of Chile 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

Qualifier Jeff Morrison, playing in only his second Wimbledon, was eliminated by Jonas Bjorkman 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 2-6, 6-2. Wild card James Blake, staging a career comeback after missing much of last year because of shingles and a neck injury, lost to Jan Hernych 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4).

``I still take a positive from this because I am healthy,'' Blake said. ``Last year at this time I wasn't healthy, so it has been a big step for me.''

Dent's big serve makes him a threat on grass, but he came to Wimbledon with a modest 5-5 career record at the All England Club. He has an injury-plagued history, and his match against Norman was only his third in nearly three months.

It was a classic serve-and-volley grass-court duel: Dent hit 23 aces, Norman 25. And Norman -- at 34 is the oldest player in the men's draw -- refused to fold after losing the first two sets without dropping his serve.

Dent, who sometimes goes for too much on too many shots, made his own trouble in the fourth-set tiebreaker, squandering three match points with faulty shots. He smacked a high backhand crosscourt volley wide to extend the match into a decisive fifth set.

A series of errors, including a double-fault to 15-30, cost Norman his serve in the opening game of the final set, and Dent led the rest of the way.

``It was so much tension in the tiebreaker of the fourth set where I had to save three match points,'' Norman said. ``When you have to save a match point against Dent who is serving, it's pretty stressful.''

Mark,

No, I agree she has no grass game whatsoever. She can't get
underneath the ball well enough on the backhand side to do well at
Wimbeldon. Oh and thanks for the heads up on those shoe lifts,
they're great. I feel like i'm 6' foot tall now and for only 12
bucks, good find. For the price of going to a movie I gained an
inch in height, ya gotta love ebay:) If anybody else wants to check

On April 24th Taylor turns 24 years old -- that means you have less
than a month to send in your warmest birthday wishes. To sign the
Taylor Dent Online e-card, just go to the link here [
http://taylordentfans.bravejournal.com ] and leave as long a message
as you like! I will give all efforts to see your messages get to
Taylor once signing closes on April 23rd at 11:59 PM PDT US.

There's no visual card yet, but I will be unveiling the candidates
for people to choose from in a few weeks' time. Best of all? You can
send in candidates! Cards will be restricted to a maximum width of
500 pixels and a maximum height of 350 pixels, and should contain a
general message of birthday congratulations -- "Happy Birthday
Taylor, from all your fans!" will do perfectly, but if you want you
can use something else, as long as it's appropriate. Card candidates
are due by April 18th to let people have enough time to vote. You
can send a link or an attachment to taylordentonline [at] gmail.com.

Have fun with this, and please tell all your friends! It'd be great
to get a lot of participation on this! Go Taylor!

Throwback Dent on verge of greatness
By KEITH NIEBUHR
Published March 23, 2005

http://www.sptimes.com/2005/03/23/Sports/Throwback_Dent_on_ver.shtml

He chips. He charges.

 He smashes his serves.

 He races to the net.

In an era dominated by baseliners, Taylor Dent is one of the exceptions. He
plays the game the way it used to be played, with a serve-and-volley style
reminiscent of yesteryear, when three of the four majors were contested on grass
and baseliners routinely got clobbered.

He is, pardon the cliche, old school.

"He's a throwback," ESPN commentator Cliff Drysdale said. "There's not many
left that play that way. He has a kamikaze style."

Dent's go-for-broke attitude has made him one of the game's most exciting
players, if not yet one of its most recognizable. Dent, ranked No. 33, is one of
only four Americans in the top 50. But because No. 3 Andy Roddick and No. 10
Andre Agassi have won a combined nine major titles, they receive the bulk of the
media attention and Dent remains somewhat of an unknown commodity among the
sporting public.

That could be about to change.

Dent, a 23-year-old native of Newport Beach, Calif., appears to be playing the
best tennis of his life. And recent victories over No. 4 Marat Safin, this
year's Australian Open champion, No. 2 Lleyton Hewitt and No. 9 David Nalbandian
have given him an injection of confidence heading into today's Nasdaq-100 Open
at Key Biscayne.

"For the first time I'm really excited about where I'm at," Dent said. "I want
to see if I can climb over the top."

 Will it happen?

It's difficult to tell, of course. Dent has four career titles and played for
the bronze medal at last year's Summer Olympics, but he has had limited success
in Grand Slam events. His best finish is a fourth-round showing at the 2003 U.S.
Open.

And yet, there is reason for hope.

Recent history shows that serve-and-volleyers peak later than those who spend
the bulk of their time on the baseline. And for Dent, who turned professional in
1998, that could be good news.

"We saw it with Patrick Rafter," said tennis legend and Dade City-native Jim
Courier. "It took awhile for him to develop. And with Tim Henman. It takes a
little bit more time because you have to understand all the angles."

Baseliners, Courier said, get an earlier start. He said when players learn the
game today, they focus on groundstrokes, not net play. And physically, he added,
most players aren't ready to serve and volley until they are 15 or 16.

As Dent contended, "It's just a tougher game. You have to be able to do
everything."

Still, Dent does not necessarily buy into the argument that it should take
serve and volleyers longer to find their groove. "I don't believe it has to be
that way," he said.

His greatest struggle thus far, he says, has been with consistency. At times he
hits all the shots. At others, he stumbles. Minor injuries also have caused
havoc, and all of this has made maintaining his patience a difficult task.

He wants to be a top-10 player.

 He craves Grand Slam success.

And he would rather have this sooner than later.

"It can be frustrating," Dent said.

Dent learned the craft from his father, Phil Dent, an Aussie great and former
Top-20 player who reached the Australian Open final in 1974. Drysdale, a close
friend of Phil Dent, said the elder Dent had a style similar to his son's.

It's no coincidence Taylor Dent lists Rafter among his favorite players. Rafter
achieved great success, winning U.S. Opens in 1997 and '98. His first Open title
came when he was 24. Up to then, he had never advanced past the third round at
the Open and only earlier that year - in the French Open - did he reach the
semifinals of a major for the first time.

"There are a lot of parallels," Dent said. "I go for more but he had more
consistency. In some ways I've tried to copy him."

In the recent victory over Safin, one he says is "up there" among his biggest,
Dent thought much of his game came together. Most important, he said, was that
he won almost 60 percent of his second serves, long a weakness of his.

"That's very, very big for me," Dent said. "The top four players in the
rankings win those points 60 percent of the time ... all the time."

In the past, Dent spent too much time trying to perfect every aspect of his
game, he said. Now he concentrates on a few select parts. Otherwise, his plan
hasn't changed. He is staying the course and has no intention of changing his
style.

"I'm only 23 and I feel like I have a lot of tennis left," Dent said. "I'm
playing good, solid tennis. I can see consistency coming. It's just a matter of
time."

hey
just to update you on taylor's situation:
john fitzgerald (australian davis cup captain) interviewed him briefly later
on.
taylor says he's been really tired this past week and he just thinks he may
have picked up a bug during the week. since he didn't get a break between the
final at adelaide and first round in sydney, it's understandable and he wants
to hopefully be at 100% for the aus open next week. so he pulled out.
after his warm up he took a quick trip to the bathroom and reported some
'spillage' ... i.e. he puked.
hopefully he gets better in time. he's been in awesome form!

Taylor dent has started the year off strong, by defeating last
year's champion, Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets 7-6 6-3 on friday's
match.
From what I saw, dent was in amazing form - he seems to be playing
extremely well.
He will go on to play Chela today in the semis. I will see if I
could cap the match from channel 7.
