A recent report from The Grand Rapids Press quotes Grand Rapids Rampage
veteran Ahmad Hawkins, the team's union representative in the Arena
Football League Players Association, as saying AFL players have agreed
to a pay cut to help save the 2009 season.
"I'm one of the top-paid guys and I was the first one to say I'd take a
pay cut," Hawkins told The Grand Rapids Press. "We agreed to take the
salary cap lower. The players want to do anything we can to play this
season."
The story says players have agreed to reduce the salary cap for the
2009 season from $2 million to $1.4 million.
