QB Stoney Case, FB Kevin Clemens and OL Kenyatta Jones
TAMPA – The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have signed free
agent quarterback Stoney Case, fullback/linebacker Kevin Clemens and
rookie offensive lineman Kenyatta Jones, Head Coach and General
Manager Tim Marcum announced today.
"Having Stoney come back gives us a veteran presence at the
quarterback position," said Marcum. "Stoney's shoulder is doing
fine, we expect him to contribute a great deal to this team. Clemens
is big physical guy that has a lot of experience and should push
Brown and Schule at fullback. Jones is another big guy that showed
he could play in the outdoor game; his addition should make for some
great completion on the offensive line."
Case, 6-foot-2, 225-pounds, returns for his fourth season in Tampa
Bay and fifth overall in the Arena Football League. In 2007 he
appeared in seven games and started three before an injury in Week 7
ended his season. Case finished the season with a 65.8 percent
completion percentage, 540 yards passing and six touchdowns, he also
scored twice on the ground.
Clemens, 6-1, 280-pounds, spent the 2007 AFL season with the Utah
Blaze. The eight-year veteran appeared in 11 games for the Blaze and
finished the season with 25 carries for 32 yards and four
touchdowns. Clemens began his collegiate career at College of DuPage
before he transferred to Grand Valley State University where he was
an All-Conference selection and a member of two undefeated state
championship teams. He began his AFL career in 2000 with the New
Jersey Red Dogs (Currently Cleveland Gladiators) and spent time with
the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles in
the National Football League.
Jones, 6-3, 298-pounds will make his AFL debut with the Tampa Bay
Storm. The former University of South Florida standout was the
school's first player to get drafted in the National Football League
Entry Draft. Drafted by the New England Patriots in 2001 (Fourth
Round, 96th overall) he spent two seasons with the Patriots and won a
Super Bowl ring (2002). After his release from the Patriots in
October of 2003 he joined the Washington Redskins until his release
in the fall of 2004. Jones also was member of the USF basketball
program (1999-2000).
