Yup, they're the same in essence. I've seen some martial arts movies and documentaries
showing the 'sticky hands' as a basic form of self-defense derived from tai chi.

Used this once back in highschool when I was bullied. I over did it and mangled my schoolmate's wrist.
Got suspended for 3 days and was warned never to use Tai chi at school again. :P

Anybody knows someone who teaches self-defense application of tai chi? Or a CD perhaps?;-)...
