Hi all - this week (26th Nov.) we are running from the Inn on the Green,
Horfield. There are several possibilities from here but probably up onto
Purdown. Chris will lead. See you up there. Libby.
Hey Pete
Your pond wading abilities were missed last night on the Compton Dando route.

Hello!
This is just to remind you that the Trionium Box
Hill Knacker Cracker (Britain's toughest 10k) is
coming up on 1 January around Box Hill in Surrey,
and is filling up fast. As ever, it is likely to
sell-out before the race. Enter early enough and
you can get your name on the back of the race
tech-top.
For the fancy dress we have promises of a runner
in a ballet tutu, one in evening dress and one in
a kilt, three vikings, an elf, a burger, a power
ranger, superwoman, a reindeer, Laurel and Hardy,
a bumblebee, army kit (plus rucksack plus rocks)
and others besides.
Entry is via
http://www.Trionium.com/knackercracker - please
enter soon because the 300 person entry limit is
fast approaching.
Each year the race raises over £1000 for charity,
including Rianna's Fund
(http://www.riannasfund.org).
I'm also keen to enlist marshals for the Knacker
Cracker and the other races - you get all the
race goodies, and a free entry into a future
Trionium race...please contact me at
rob@....
Please see the other Trionium races below, and
please feel free to pass this on to your friends
or to post this to message boards, club boards
etc - thanks. Let me know if none of this is of
interest, and I'll delete you from the database.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi all - we have a brand new race for January. As we are doing it in
conjunction with ASvon Riding Centre, TACHers can enter and run in it (I will be
looking for a few 'volunteers' to help with one or two things!) Anyway please
pass this around and promote it as much as you can, particularly if you are a
member of another running club Entry forms are up on our web site, if you would
like me to send you some 'hard' copies please let me know. Entries to me asap
please. Libby
Hi all - this week we have a VERY IMPORTANT run from The Victoria in Chock Lane,
Westbury on Trym. (more on that later) The reason its so important is that it
is the evening we are presenting our cheque to the Chief Executive of Riding for
the Disabled (proceeds from our Summer Pub Series). Earthquakes and Civil Wars
permitting the Evening Post will be there to take photos. So it would be geat
to see as many of you as possible at 7.00 p.m. outside the pub in TACH gear if
possible and looking like serious off road, night time runners (which of course
you all are)!
Now back to the run and the pub Chris will lead the run which will be the 10K
river run. Parking at the pub is difficult and suggest you park in the main
village car park and walk round or through the churchyard.
See you there at 7.00 p.m. Libby
Hi - it was great to see so many new faces out running last Thursday. This week
(5th Nov.) we are running from the Dundry Inn, Dundry. There are 3 routes
planned - all with views of fireworks over Bristol (7K, 9K or 11K - please
e-mail preferences in advance - 7K is about 4 miles so I could lay it in flour
for hashers if required.) None of these is flat!
Routes incorporate sections of the proposed southern ring-road and the northern
boundary of the proposed 10 000 house development - so it should appeal to
Runners for the Green Belt
Cheers
PS Runners for the Green Belt is now the runners wing of Friends of the
Community Forest Path - 3 of whom have been out with secateurs and sickles
clearing the route for the Thursday run.
Hi all, this week (29th Oct) we are running from the Green Man, Kingsdown.
After the run Chris will be signing copies of his new book where the route that
will be followed can be found! See you there. Libby.
Hey everyone
Just to let you know that if you're interested in doing some group interval
training, Up and Running organises this on Tuesday evenings from their shop in
North View, Henleaze. There are 3 groups - beginners, intermediate and
advanced. Cost £1. Meet at the shop at 18.30, they normally set off at
18.45ish.
CHURCH TOWN-CROOK PEAK 2010
I am nominating January 31st 2010 for our annual trek south, this year to Crook
Peak. This is as usual five weeks before the Grizzly.
Start at 10.00 am sharp from 17, Church Town proceeding via Congresbury (11.05
am approx), Strawberry Line, Sandford, Winscombe (12ish), along the shoulder of
Wavering Down (ie not over it!) to Crook Peak thence probably to the New Inn at
Cross.1.00-1.30pm.
I will liaise with the pub to try and make sure the catering is not as chaotic
as the last time we did it.
Usually there are plenty of lifts back to Backwell/Nailsea available after
lunch.
Please let me know if you are even considering doing it.
Bill Charnock
Hi all, this week (Oct. 15th) we are running from the Queen's Arms in Chew
Magna. Chris will be leading the run. All the routes round here are great and
he's planning to 'do' one from his book! See you at the pub. Libby
I like the look of this. Sounds like a serious undertaking - Team Vasque won it
this year and they also won the High Peak Marathon. Woodwose Martin Beale is a
member I believe.
Jonathan
Yes that was me who posted the runs on the Runners World forum in 2 places - I
started a new thread and also mentioned them on the Bristol Half Marathon
thread. Good positive responses eh? There's quite a bit of possibly useful
info on there if people would like to take a look. Here's the link:
http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/146843/#
Three weeks after the Grizzly, on 27th March 2010, is the Four Inns Walk. It covers a mainly off-road route of about 40 miles through the Peak District - more details at http://www.fourinnswalk.org/
I did this event about 35 years ago and fancy having another crack at it. It is a event for teams of three or four, so I would like to enter a TACH team (or even more than one!).
If you have entered the Grizzly, it will be an ideal post-Grizzly event. And if you are going to miss out on the Grizzly, it could be the focus of your training through the winter.
Hi all, here is a big thank you to all of you who took part from the Ashton Vale
Group - "just wanted to say a BIG thank you to yourself and all the runners who
took part last night. We are really greatful for the support and all your
efforts." (there will be a news release soon)
Next week (8th October) the run is from the Blathwayt Arms on Lansdown. This
will be a "normal!" run although toughish going up (!)and down the plateau.
Antony (Turtle) is leading. I'm afraid we won't be there. Libby.
Did you see the message from member David Giles in Kyrgyzstan. It seems
like our campaign has gone world wide - or at least onto Runners World! In case
you missed it here are a few quotes....Town and Country Harriers, has organised
2 of its training runs through threatened green belt areas in and around
Bristol...Both runs are on country footpaths and we loop back to the pubs
afterwards for drinks. We'll also be discussing what else can do about the
threatened landscapes. Torches and off-road shoes recommended...Hope to see
some of you there for a great run, good beer and activism!..............I want
there to be somewhere left for you to run when you arrive Shim! ....Is there a
petition up and running about this yet? I live in Southville at the moment and
have already written to the local councillors about Tesco and the new stadium
plans (TESNO!).
I'm fine with World Cup bids, but not at the expense of the lovely countryside
around Bristol.
I dont know whether you have investigated the possibility of registering some of
the land as a 'Town and Village Green'. Forget the preconception of a small
patch of grass with a duck pond, I am working on a project associated with them
at the moment.
If you can get an area designated thus, it is automatically protected from
development.
They do tend to be specific areas (field/playing field or similar) but I have
visited some really obscure ones.
Best of luck with the activism - good to know there are people out there taking
on the developers.
Thanks to all who turned out - photos soon - keep up the good work.
I'm going to be cutting down my mileage for a while.
So starting tomorrow at the Cross Hands, if anybody wants to do a short version
of any of the Autumn runs, I can join you or lead them (let me know in advance
if it's outside Bristol).
Will be unavailable on 1st October though.

Mark has offered to lead a shorter or slower run and I for one may take him up
on that.

You're thinking of Mia Farrow. You should have asked me the question instead of
relying on google...
I agree - excellent run. Well done, Jonathan.
Hard going up the hills with the pack (which was why I was trailing at the back)
but definitely what I need, as I expect the climbs in the Elan Valley to be much
harder.
My first visit to the Cross House - nice pub and good beer.
Cheers
Chris

defence I'd like to point out that we ran it in reverse to the normal
North-South race direction.

was very good although darkness was drawing in by the time we got back to the

runners were Jonathon, John McD, Rob, Chris Bloor, Libby (who ran an alternative
route to the rest of us), Pete Brown and yours truly.
