24.02 BELGIUM - Steven Delfosse wins the Cup of Hainaut
On sunday, Steven Delfosse (Magic Team Tournai) won the Cup of
Hainaut,
beating his teammate Logan Carette (2-0) in the final. 20 players
took part
and the other winners are Jean-Luc Platiaux (SC Meslin l'Evêque) in
the
veterans, Anthony Lispet (Quévy) in U15, Quentin Picou (Gaurain) in
U19,
Maxime Castel (Pecq) in U12 and Aurélie Lucq (Pecq) in the ladies.
25.02 SINGAPORE - New players in action
Things are moving in Singapore were players who were active in the
80's
have decided to come back on action. Thanks to the internet, some of
them
have been able to meet and two of them look very decided to restart an
association: Rizal (rizal69@...) and Thomas Koh
(thomkoh@...).
26.04 NORTHERN IRELAND - A squad for the World Cup
After some research on the internet, Simon Stewart is looking for more
players in Northern Ireland to have some games and also make a team
for the
next World Cup. Details at chipteenthtime@...
24.02 - Sensational Rasmus Lund
Denmark's Rasmus Lund made a terrific performance to beat Anders
Grorud
(Normay) in the final of the Grand Prix of Denmark this week-end in
Odense
(3-0) This victory is probably the most important success in the
career of
the young denish player. In the other categories, the winners were
Lega
Liga (teams), Kenneth Lind (U15) and... Rasmus Lund in U19.
01.03 Mettivieri is the world's number 1
Thanks to his success at the Major of Elbeuf, Belgium's Antonio
Mettivieri
is now the leader of the official FISTF World Ranking. Vasco
Guimaraes, the
former number 1 and winner of the french Major in 2001, is now number
4,
just behind Massimo Bolognino and Alain Hanotiaux. Jos Ceulemans is
also
the new number 1 in the veterans. Former number 1 Fabrice Mazzaglia
is now
number 2. In the U19 category, Mikaël Casciano (Belgium) is still the
leader but Elbeuf's winner Ludovic wienecke (France) is now number 6.
Nicolas Baccega is still the easy leader of the U15 category. In the
ladies, the gap between Valérie Hoyois and aurélie Lucq is now
smaller than
ever and Lucq could be number 1 next month, after the Major of Mons.
Finally, Mattersburg is still the number o1 team but also the only
"non-belgian" world number 1...
02-03.03 BELGIUM - Mons, the greatest tournament
107 players in Open category, 33 teams, 13 countries, 41 clubs. This
is the
impressive programme we had this week-end for the 11th edition of the
Mons
tournament. And to confirm it was a great tournament, there was a
great
winner: Gil Delogne. Gil, the winner of the Temploux Open in january
and
good performer in Elbeuf, was in a great day to win the best success
of the
season. All around the tournament, the TFC ProfiBase players made
great
results. From the 2nd round (where the top 11 players entered the
tournament), Gil beat Philippe Mairesse (1-1 & shots), Markus
Matzinger
(3-1), Manfred Pawlica (1-0), Vasco Guimaraes (1-0), David Ruelle (2-
1) and
finally Massimo Bolognino, double-world champion and world's number 2
at
the end of a stressing game (0-0 & shots).
In the other categories, there were a lot of surprises. In the U19
category
(24 players), 2 guys from Malta reached the final. Ilai Zammit-
Marmara from
Hamrun Subbuteo Club, beat his teammate Josef Cammilleri in a close
game(1-0). The U15 category (10 players) was far less exciting as
Nicolas
Baccega, the current world's number 1, made a perfect tournament to
win the
final against Jessica Hardenne (1-0).
The U12 category was also very exciting as there were 10 players and
most
of them have already a very good level. Jonathan Hardenne, one of the
2
favorites, was beaten in the barrage by th eother top player of the
category, Michaël Denooz. Hardenne had lost a group game to Thimothée
Knockaert, the future finalist. Finally, Michaël Denooz won 2-1 to
Knockaert.
In the ladies (10 players), Aurélie Lucq and Holland's Carola
Verhoeven
were expected to play the final but both of them lost in the semi-
finals
against the twin sisters Julie and Tiffany Flament from Quévy, which
was
really surprising. Finally, Julie beat her sister in the final (1-0).
In the veterans, 24 players were in Mons, too. Only a top player
could win
the tournament and the victory came to Steve Grégoire, the losing
finalist
of the last world cup, after a terrible final against Austria's Erich
Hinkelmann (2-1).
Finally, the team event (33) had a wonderful final between Perugia
and the
loacl team of AS Hennuyer. The final score was 1-1 but the trophy
went to
the Italians as Massimiliano won his game to Nathan Dupont 6-0 (total
goal-average was 10-6).
A big hug to Olivier Père and the other organisers for making this
week-end
an unforgetable tournament for all those who came in Mons and helped
making
it the best tournament of the year. Also, it's worth mentionning the
time
between the games was very small as there was always someone with a
microphone walking between the tables to take care all the players
were
ready. That's the reason why the schedule was respected, even if over
600
games were played throughout the week-end. An example to follow!
The belgian subbuteo magazine would be delighted to have the comments
from
the players who attended the events for the next issue. Comments are
welcome before march 7th as an answer to this message.
The full results are now available by e-mail at my address

- Angel Valverde, a surprise in Valencia
This year, the spanish circuit is more surprising than ever. After
Murcia
won the national title for teams 3 weeks ago, Angel Valverde (Murcia)
won
the International Open of Valencia this week-end after he beat Arturo
Martinez in the final of the Open category. Only 18 players attended
this
FISTF were only one category was organized. Valencia "A" won the team
event
(3 teams).
11.03 USA - Looking for players in California
Nicolas Roquefort-Villeneuve (Menlo Park, California/USA):
oh_nico@... is looking for players in California to start a
league
or a club.
17.03 WALES - Sébastien Brulez is the surprising winner of the Grand
Prix
of Flint
That's an amazing story but it's pretty cool to see Sébastien Brulez
(AS
Hennuyer) won the Grand Prix of Wales this week-end after h ebeat
Olivier
Père (quarter), Nathan Dupont (semi) and Chris Thomas in the final!
Brulez
had given up playing last season as he was studying in Panama for a
year
and is now having a wonderful come-back! AS Hennuyer also won the team
event on saturday.

19.03 PORTUGAL - Vasco Guimarães won the Portuguese Open League
(Division
I)
Before the last day of competion, Vasco Guimarães is now the winner
of the
Portuguese Open League 2001/02 (edition 3). Vasco won this
competition for
the second time. For the second place, Filipe Maia, Norberto Miguel
and
Sérgio Loureiro must figth for it during the last day of competition
next
month.
Ranking after the 5th day: Vasco Guimaráes 34 pts; Filipe Maia 27;
Norberto
Miguel 24; Sérgio Loureiro 23; Hugo Carvalho 15; Luis Machado 14; João
Pereira 11; Tiago Sousa 10 and João Rodrigues 7. All results on the

17.03 USA - Andrew Giffen wins St-Patrick's tournament
Andrew Giffen (Washignton TSL) beat US reigning champion Gregg
Deinhart
(2-1 overtime) to win the St-Patrick's tournament held in Nirth
Carolina
this week-end. Players from 3 clubs (Washington TSL, Southeastern SL &
Connecticut SC) attended the tournament.
23.03 NORMAY - New official homepage
Things are running good again in Norway since Anders Bergane took
over the
communication department. The official home page of the NBFF (Norges
Bordfotball Forbund) is now up and running at nbff.tk Right now it's
only
in norwegian but it's very informative anyway!
23.03 BELGIQUE - AS Hennuyer champion!
Après la dernière journée du championnat de Belgique, le titre
national par
équipes est revenu à l'AS Hennuyer.
plusieurs
années.
27.03 SOUTH AFRICA - New league coming up
A south african league will finally start again next summer after Reza
Bodiat reported 18 players in the Johanesburg area are still playing
the
game and doing their best to pay table football. More details at
ubreza@...
- International U15 Open in Canada
The first north american tournament of the season was held in
KMarkham,
Canda, last week-end. Only the U15 and the ladies categories were
organized. Mark Silva was the best U15 player and Kelly Tsoi won the
ladies
final! Congratulations! Let's hope they will keep on flicking and
become
future table football stars!
