From Running Network:

"Women:One week ago, Naoko Takahashi shocked the sport with the first women's
sub two-twenty marathon, when she ran a 2:19:46 marathon at Berlin. Running much
the same way, actually charging into the lead at ten miles, in 54:18, then
hitting twenty miles in 1:46:12 - 51:56 for her second ten miles, Catherine held
on and demolished not only the course record at The La Salle Banks Marathon, but
broke Takahashi's record by one minute, with a final time of 2:18:46! Catherine
Ndereba is the new world record holder in the women's marathon with a time of
2:18:46!"

"Men: Ben Kimondiu, who really run an interval workout today, hitting the half
in 1:03:21, then jogging for 30 seconds, then leading for the final miles of the
race, shocked not only the world of running, but also himself. A local
newscaster asked him if he knew that he had shocked the sport with his win? Ben
responded, quite honestly, " I am sorry.""
