Many news report are saying Chepkemei's 1:05:44 beat the previous
half-marathon best time of 1:06:43 by Masako Chiba at Tokyo '97.

Back in 1987, Ingrid Kristiansen ran 1:06:40 in a Norway race. The course
was certified by Norwegian authorities, but with no independent validation
by leading international measurement community, doubts were raised about
course accuracy anyways.

Kristiansen was at top of her form in those days, and she ran along with
several 2:19 men that day. (If there was pacing, not sure who might have
been pacing whom!)

It was loop course so Kristiansen did not get any boost from tailwinds
and/or elevation drop.

Chepkemei's marathon PR 2:26:39. She's supposed to run Rotterdam, April 22.
