While I was bemoaning the close-mindedness of two of our male
friends, my friend Elionne said to me, "Why are you surprised?
Nothing is shocking. Think of what the world is like. There are
cannibals out there, eating children. You gotta be thankful for what
you have, and the few people that you know that can be true, people
that give back, and don't just take." I remarked that she had become
wise in her years, and she said, "I've become wise, but I've also
come to realize that I don't really know anything." Her words
affected me so much that I wrote them down.
