Jen and I have moved (for the last time for at least 1.5 years) - as Jen was offered a great job here in Toowoomba. Sadly my mobile phone is broken - but you can contact me on the phone number at the bottom of this page.

Michael Conroy from Byron Bay also recently moved here and we are launching classes/study group here (details below). Cost will be $7 (as normal). We will also be available for training on weekends in the park - and I am available for one-on-one or small group sessions during the day on Thurs and Friday.

I hope to see some of you guys here soon, and I will also endeavour to get back to brisbane in the near future for another workshop.

Andrew

Yes, thanks for the invite to the training session Andrew. It was good to get stuck in again and with a great bunch of serious blokes.

Morning Systema Australia,

Things sound great for Systema in Australia.

I hope you enjoy your training this weekend.

Have you thought of making a video of the event? It would be great to see what you are up to, perhaps download stuff on to Youtube or the like.

We are just starting in New Zealand and need all the input we can get to catch-up as we are obviously light years behind!

I hope to train later-on in the year with Dave down in Christchurch in June/July and in Australia in November for your weekend seminar.

Cheers,

Paul

One of the main reasons folks are attracted to the martial arts is
the implied or stated benefit of becoming stronger, more confident,
and tougher.
In many dojos, without question, you'll achieve these goals.
When you step onto the mat you'll spar with fewer fears and
butterflies, be able to withstand kicks and strikes, and
authoritatively pay them back in kind.
But when you put on your street gear, and especially those business
or work outfits, do you shrink from being a king of the mat to a
doormat?
Are you just as likely as you ever were to defer to others more than
you'd care to, more than they deserve?
Do you go way, way out of your way to squelch conflict, thus becoming
unnecessarily passive, an indirect communicator, and an inadvertent
abettor of bullies?
Dojos should, as part of their curricula, give their
members "homework," just as traditional schools do. But in this case
the homework is more like a "lab" assignment, where your laboratory
is the outside world.
Every week, dojo members should be held to account for
their "application assignments."...

Hi (Brisbane) Guys,

I am going to the 4 day seminar with Alex Kostic over Easter. I was
wondering if we can organise a full day of training in Brisbane a couple
of weeks after that (so early April) so I can share what Alex K taught
for those who missed out.

Ideally if Aaron or Shayne are up for it having it at someones house
would be ideal so we can keep costs down ($10 each to cover my petrol
etc).

Spread the word and see who is interested, it would be nice if we can
make it a good session. Let me know of dates that suit and who is
interested (maybe a 5 - 6 hour session)

G'Day Everyone,
Yep, Just a reminder that that the Lawnton Systema Study Group is
meeting every Monday night at the Community Hall Corner of Todds Rd and
Ellis St Lawnton. Topics for study for the next few weeks are:
Takedowns, going to ground (safely as possible) and rolling. Following
this we might look at some knife work and "simple" weapons.
Are Monday nights a problem? If so let Shayne or myself know, and if
the majority would prefer a different day we can look at this option.
Thanks,
Stuart.

make it a good session. Let me know of dates that suit and who is
interested (maybe a 5 - 6 hour session)

For all those who attend or were thinking of attending we would like to
know of your intentions as numbers have been a bit low of late and given
Stuart has to cover any shortfall of $$ himself we would like to know
whether its the day, the time, the location or the sessions that is an
issue and see if we can improve things.

Love to hear your thoughts

Shayne

Hi

My place is an option.  I live about 10 min drive from the Lawnton hall where we have our Monday night sessions.

Any weekend except April 12 - 13 for me.

Dear Andrew,

Looking forward to further details. I'll probably only make the Brisbane
seminar but we'll see what happens.

Scott.

Sounds great - unlikely to be able to make Alex's but I'll definitely do Kevin's (Syd and Bris)

I have been discussing the seminar format and topics with Kevin and I am seriously excited at what we will be doing. The two seminars will have a connected thread so if you attend both there will be an exciting progression across the two - however they are also designed to work as "stand-alone" seminars as well.
Kevin is writing an outline/article introducing his aims and goals for the two seminars and I will be posting it on my web site and here when it is done.
I honestly believe these two might prove to be the best systema seminars we have ever had  in Australia - I will be offering big discounts on advanced bookings and even more on booking to attend both seminars to make it as affordable as possible, so stay tuned!
Lastly: sorry about any inconvenience with the change of venue from Melbourne to Sydney but rest assured the seminar will be worth travelling to!

No I am organising this one without Adams help - just less confusing that way. And as per my just sent email - the Melbourne leg of Kevin's seminar has been moved to Sydney.

Hey Andrew the Melb seminar sounds good. Are you and Adam working together?

Cheers,

Been thinking:

One seminar will be in Melbourne and the other will be in Queensland.

Let me know your thoughts guys for the Queensland one:

1. I just hire out the PCYC again

2.(my prefered option) I put a package deal together for hotel accomodation in Noosa and the whole thing becomes a bit of a holiday - that way families can come up and enjoy a weekend away too...

Hi everyone,

I am currently in discussion to bring kevin Secours out to Australia
again for another seminar or two. We are looking at late October and I
am contemplating holding 2 seperate seminars:

One in Melbourne and one in either Brisbane/sunshine coast OR Sydney.

At this stage I am looking for expressions of interest and if you all
think you'd be interested in another Secours seminar? I am sure we could
get a great turn out in Melbourne but I'd just like to give people the
heads up and see what people reckon
