Just some more insight, because I use paypal alot.

 

You need to setup an account at www.paypal.com. This account username must be a valid email address (so you could use agibson@... ). Paypal corresponds with you through this email all the time; I find it easy if you have 2 windows open to switch between them. Once you have the account, you need to get money into it. You can either attach a credit card to it and upload money, which is the best way and is all instantaneous, or you can attached a debit card to it. This will take about 1 week to verify and then 1 week to move money into the account (so a timely process, but still good thats the way I use it). You just have to think ahead to when you need paypal money. Then once the money is in your paypal you can send it to anyone else with a paypal account. You just click send money and put in their email address (which is also their paypal account name).

 

Everything is pretty straight forward just follow your nose. The only thing you really need to decide is credit or debit card...
