RE: [sydneytandems] Riders down

How was WA? Manage to do any cycling?

Bike is $900 of damage which is fairly minor.
Shoulder is still sore and limited as to what I can do. A carton of milk is
about the weight limit at the moment. Right thumb is in a cast due to the
torn tendons. Handsurgeon is confident that it will heal itself if it's kept
in the right place which is at about 45 degrees away from my hand. I'll know
in another 3 weeks when the cast comes off. Useful things thumbs!
While I was away in Alice Springs with Marian at a conference there, I went
on a couple of tours. On the palm valley tour due to not being able to use
my arms, when I stumbled I managed to rip my left gastrocnemius badly and
can now hardly walk. Just shoot me!
Should be able to ride in another couple of months.

His green slip insurance and comprehensive insurance will pay for the
damages once the police have charged the guy. So far he has proved elusive
and the not answering phone or mail.
As the police constable that is looking after this only works 4 days on and
6 off she hasn't been able to pay him a house visit yet but that's next on
the list.

Should be up in Forster soon for a visit.

Cheers

Geoff

I have been away in WA for a few weeks so have only just read your email.
How has it all worked out Geoff?

I would expect his green slip insureance would cover your costs and he
should have third party property insurance though its not compulsory. Then
it depends on the insurance company being reasonable - some would be happy
to pay out $10,000 for a car repair but block a payment of $1000 for a bike
- after all bikes are kids toys aren't they. How badly damaged is your bike?
Is your shoulder coming good?

Commiserations,

Chris
