RE: [sydneytandems] Re: Did you go on the ride?

I had a look at the flights 2 weeks ago and then there were still flights to Cairns for only $119. They are now at $159 plus fees and taxes so it worked out to be $218 each way plus $200 in taxes for a total of $644. We have flown a few times with Virgin and each time they have been very helpful. One time at Sydney Airport I had packed my tools away and there was a full bike tool kit that was available. Bike boxes are $20 each and you need 2 for a tandem. Sometimes we have been charged and sometimes not.

Don’t know if we’ll bother doing the full S&S 2 suitcases thing. We might just ride to the airport and box it there.

Cheers

Geoff

I think Virgin Blue have the best policy for bikes - they count a bike
as 5kg of your 20kg allowance. If the total dimensions are over 140cm it
is carried at their discretion whatever that means. Flights are still
available for about $320 return for the days either side of the ride. I
dont think they will last long. There is a bus service to the start at
Port Douglas.
