This is a group that was begun by Christian Berger, the Record Keeper for Masters Swimming Canada. It's a forum mainly to discuss aspects of Masters Swimming, mainly in Canada, and focusing on how one keeps "going" even though the body is aging.

The original group was just a list of email addresses that Christian kept on his computer.
Mark Sandilands of Alberta Masters Swimming started a listserv using Mailman at the University of Lethbridge.

Originally it was thought that this Yahoo group would serve as a place to deposit the archives of the forum; however, that turned out to be too complicated. The advantages of the Yahoo group, with places for files, photos, links, etc. plus archiving of messages makes it best to go here.

This is a closed list meaning that people have to be approved before subscribing. All that Christian and I are concerned about is Spammers getting onto the list. Therefore, if someone wants to subscribe, we request that they say a few words about their swimming, such as, "I am a member of ______ masters' club", "I hope to join a Masters club sometime", or "I'm interested in swimming for fitness".

There is no requirement that they be members of a provincial Masters section, MSC, or any other organized group. Members from outside of Canada are also welcome--we already have some.
