Dear
Fish,
Check
it out!
What
I’ve been up to : )
I
know that before i started my new job, I had planned for a long interval
session on 19 July for you guys.
Sorry
that you have to “share” me with others now..
But
in keeping with my word, you are welcome to run with me for free on the 19th.
The run course will be a 5 km loop with aid stations at either end. So
it would be ideal for 6 x 2.5 k sub-threshold intervals, with say, 1 min rest
interval at each aid station. I can guide you through this beforehand.
Unfortunately,
if you want to do the whole brick, you’ll need to chip in for the rental
for the transition racks and use of the facility.
Have
managed to get a 10% discount for all Yellowfish swimmers on ALL the events.
Hope
to see you there!
As
always, grateful for your support and belief in me.

Good morning everyone!
Trust you've been well and busy pedalling every weekend
It's been three months since I last cycled. My ALAN ti frame is out of commission. It will sit in a box... permanently. So, I thought of organising a cycling fund raising event for a new frame! heee...kidding....just kidding lah ;-)
I will not be ready for the roads till another 1-2months. Hopefully not more. Meanwhile, the mental training is preparing me for some nice spins and hill rides. Even if I could sing, I'd have to rest my vocal cords.
Recently, more than one hundred million viewers on youtube have been inspired by Susan Boyle, and millions more have been amazed by the many other incredible and extraordinary BGT talents like Jamie Pugh, Sue Son, Greg Pritchard, 10-12 year old gifted/talented stars to be: http://talent.itv.com/videos.htm
I've been enjoying Bruce Lee (also other kung fu movies), and also spent some quality time studying some dance moves for my classes. When a bike is ready for me...that's what I'd like to do too...dance on the bike :)
Nur, glad that you are recovering well and having fun at home. I’m
sure you’re also enjoying the Giro on the couch …. Not often you’ll see dear
Lance climbing the mountain in pain J
Keep up the high spirit. Cheers!

Fotos of Lance already on the bike (yesterday) and two other shots showing the x-ray and stitches can be found in swctrydz yahoogroup. You guys probably think I'm so free to do all diz ah You're right! I am! ....do take a peek. Lance is telling you something ;-)
Just a little bit of good news. I've been informed that the metal gratings along the stretch of Raffles Boulevard which caused the crash has been sealed up. LTA safety committee has directed a design change to metal gratings which will hopefully prevent future such mishap to cyclists.
I know of those who are still recovering from their accident a few months ago, and even more than a year ago. My heart feels for you, and my thoughts are always with you. Live and be strong to fight another day....
...we will come back stronger :)

Hey Nur
Didn't know about the crash. How's the recovery going? Hope you get well soon!
I will attempt to descibe my bike crash as briefly as possible.
Once upon a time....
hehee..
The incident happened along Raffles Boulevard on the beautiful Sat morning of Feb 14.
As I made a left turn into this road, I saw metal gratings on the immediate turn. Two of these are placed approx 3-4meters apart I gazed to the left, to be sure I was not too close to the two gratings. As soon as I passed these gratings safely, I turned my head to the front, by which time my front wheel was already rolling into the next metal grating which is approx 3-4metres from the second grating of the first two.
I was unable to avoid the third metal grating as the front wheel of my bike was already gently rolling into the biggest (and uncovered) gap of this grating (pic attached). At a speed of 10kph, I literally dived and crash-landed onto the tarmac. My right eye was protected by my trusted shades. My right upper lip was sliced up to the area just below my nose, with a minor cut on lower lip. My fractured teeth and badly bashed gums sound something like this - one upper tooth broken, two lower teeth chipped, and three other front teeth re-arranged. Not a very pretty sight.
I will not go into the details. I am smiling everyday, trying to get brave and face the blank page of my book, and am on the road to recovery.
I am very touched by all the kind notes... many thanks to ALL who have written and txtd me your well wishes. MUACKS! LOVE YOU ALL, There are sooOOO many of you... you know who you are =)
Now I know what this song means..."All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...my two front teeth...O! my two front teeth!" ;-)
I hope to resume cycling in June or July. Got bicycle for me or not? heheee... or just...my two front teeth?

Haven't you heard!
Nur got hurt real bad during a ride at the junction of nicoll highway.
She is recovering now. It's been more than a month guys.
Dear Lance Armstrong fans. He says he is feeling better today. If you haven't already read about his crash, here's a little something for you.
Lance Armstrong crashed during the first stage of Spain's Vuelta Castilla y Leon Monday. He was taken to a hospital, where it was confirmed that broke his right collarbone.
Armstrong was involved in a pile-up with other riders on the 168.3-km course between Paredes de Nava and Baltanas.
Armstrong hadn't raced in Spain for five years.
The crash has put his upcoming race participation in jeopardy. He's scheduled to race in the Giro d'Italia May 9 through May 31 and the Tour de France July 4 through July 26.
Post Crash Questions with Lance Armstrong
How did the crash happen? "At the end of the race, people started to get a bit excited to win the race. Everybody wanted to be in the front and couple of guys crashed in front of me, crossed the wheels and I hit them over the top. It happens quick when it happens. It could have been worse, I suppose. I have road rash abrasions on right hip and arm but the big problem is the broken collarbone. I never had this before. It is pretty painful. Now we must have to see how it heals. I will go back to the US and there we will decide on surgery."
You must be very disappointed. Is the Giro participation in jeopardy? "I am very disappointed. Very. Especially for the Giro. Now the biggest problem is the pain. It hurts. We will see. The guys in the hospital in Valladolid were great and very nice and helpful. But now I feel miserable. I need to relax a couple of days, fix the problem and make a plan. I hope I can tell you more about the Giro in a week."
You almost never crash. "I was thinking the same thing in the hospital that this never happened in my 17 years of pro cycling. That's cycling. It's nobody's fault. Crashes happen all the time. It is part of the job."

Appreciate all that SCTF has done and the continued great efforts in making our roads safer for cyclists. Thanks for educating the bus drivers too, and opening the bus lanes to cyclists. Just one other thing. I truly hope that the ANSI\SNELL? approved helmets is made mandatory (all cyclists - to include children, aunties & uncles).
It's another weekend everyone. Keep your eye on the road!

Geez... that's a very nasty fall Nur, glad to know that you are on the road to recovery.
I saw the picture and these are exactly the kind of issues that we plan to approach LTA with on a regular basis. So the plan is for SCTF to gather constructive feedbacks from various cycling groups or communities through either meetings or mails and we shall then work with LTA to improve on the situations. I seriously hope this plan will pull off and the road will be safer for us to use.
I will update and get in touch with you on a later date when things are more settled. Meanwhile, please take good care and hope to see you on the road soon.
Cheers!!!
regards
Steven

I will attempt to describe my bike crash as briefly as possible.
Once upon a time....
hehee..
The incident happened along Raffles Boulevard on the beautiful Sat morning of Feb 14.
As I made a left turn into this road, I saw metal gratings on the immediate turn. Two of these are placed approx 3-4meters apart I gazed to the left, to be sure I was not too close to the gratings. As soon as I passed these gratings safely, I turned my head to the front, by which time my front wheel was already rolling into the next metal grating which is approx 3-4metres from the second grating of the first two.
I was unable to avoid the third metal grating as the front wheel was already gently rolling into the biggest (and uncovered) gap of this grating (pic attached).
Thank you to ALL who have written and txtd me your well wishes. MUACKS. LOVE YOU ALL, There are sooOOO many of you... you know who you are =)
Now I know what this song means..."All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...my two front teeth...O! my two front teeth!" ;-)
I hope to resume cycling in June or July. Got bicycle for me or not? heheee... or just my two front teeth?
ciao, nur
