Re: To Steven -[swctrydz] Re: Tour de Fun at Novena Square

I must agree that LTA has been very responsive to suggestions that I have made to improving road condition etc. If the is any suggestion that you feel would improve riding safety/comfort for cyclist, you can make the suggestion via the LTA website. They would normally response quite quickly, whether positively or negatively.

Let's do more to make the roads more rider friendly.

Hi Steven,

Appreciate the great updates on development with SCTF. You're dong a fantastic job as President of SCTF. Congratulations and well done!
I'm sorry I hadn't contributed to SCTF since my drop out from the last meeting I attended almost two years ago!

Glad to say that when I informed a cycling friend\enthusiast from LTA regarding the metal gratings along the downhill stretch of Henderson Road, the LTA took care of this instantly!  I'm not sure if they've done much about the metal gratings along Thomson Road - adjacent to Balestiar Road. The metal gratings along Farrer Road - opposite the MRT construction site is also unsafe, but I'm not sure if anything has been done about this as I do not ride through that road much. However, most recently, immediate action was taken by LTA,      after my bike crashed on the metal gratings along Raffles Boulevard.

I'm sure you will receive suggestions and feedback from everyone here and nationwide. Thanks for keeping us posted on Facebook.

Look forward to the "Code of Conduct" guidebook!

Best Wishes and Regards,
nur

Hi Nur,

How have you been? have not seen or hear from you for a long time, hope everything's fine with you.

What is it that you are writing about? Wish you all the best.

Am glad to know you are still active in the cycling community, just to share a little with you about the development of Safe Cycling Taskforce (SCTF); it has been a good year for the cycling community in our opinions as there are a lot of things happening like the government was talking about having a bike rental facility in town centre to encourage people to cycle to MRT stations and town centre, 5 towns are coming up with project on sharing the foot path with cyclists, OCBC Bike Race...etc. These in turn create awareness on issues like safety of cyclists and this is where SCTF will come in to work with relevant authorities to help resolving them.

Apart from the "Cyclists Ahead" sign boards that were erected on three locations, we are currently working with Singapore Sports Council to come out with a Biking Guide which include selection of equipments and gears, safety tips and rules and regulations. We are also sitting in the Safety Warden Committee of both Sembawang and Tampines Town Council of their share the foot path project.. This Safety Warden commitee may take us to work with Traffic Police and LTA to go into schools and foreign workers dormitory to give educations talks and tips on safe cycling. There are plans to have regular dialogues with Traffic Police and LTA  on how education, legislations or enforcement and infrastructures can help to improve the safety of cyclists on the roads.. We will also continue to develop the "Code of Conduct" guide for cyclists..To engage the TP and LTA, we will need feedbacks from the cycling community in which SWCT and other cycling groups may be able to assist in this area which I will write to you on the details on a later date.  Meanwhile, if you guys are on Facebook, you are welcome to join the group - Safe Cycling Task Force, to give us feedbacks and suggestions.

Overall, I think its a very exciting year ahead for us SCTF and the whole cycling community and we are doing our best to ride on the waves and grab on every opportunities to spread our words on safe cycling.

Take care and see you soon.

Cheers!!!

regards

Steven Lim
