Saturday Ride Update / Suggestion

 

With the growth of the club, the Saturday ride from Panera is getting big.  With the rising interest in racing there is also a need for more focus to our rides.  With these two situations in mind, we want to propose some changes to the structure (or maybe put some structure) to the Saturday Panera ride.

 

1.  Break the ride into two rides.  One goes inland through Elfin forest and regroups at the church.  The other goes north on the coast (We will call this the “Bob Young/ George Furgerson come ride with us Ride”)

 

2.  The coast ride (or the “Bob Young Ride”) and a slower Elfin forest ride will start at 8am sharp.  The normal Elfin forest group will start at 8:15 sharp.  This will allow the people that want a less intense training ride to get ahead / not get pressured into riding hard.

 

3.  Randy Wilson as Route Coordinator will maintain discipline J.  He will be watching and policing us all.

 

4.  This is more of a question.  With 30 riders in a group, we are having more flats per mile of riding.  We have the rule of “WE LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND ON OUR RIDES”, which is a good rule.  On the other hand we wait for a lot for flats.  What is the right way to manage this so that we are not waiting 20% of our riding time for flats.  DISCUSS AMONG YOURSELFS…..  (Obviously, we need input from Rob Cohen ;-)… )

If you are new to the Elfin forest ride and do not know where the “Church” is, it would be a good idea to look at the above map and know, so you can regroup with us and continue to do the rest of the ride with us.
