Dear Swamis,
I wanted to take the time to announce the volunteer assignment list for
the April 5th race is now avialbale for your review and subsequent
committment. I believe it went out as seperate file to you before this
message, but it is also located under the "files" section of our yahoo
group on the left here. So go to that and download the spread sheet and
take a look at all the jobs we have for you!
The most important thing a racing club can do is promote races. Swamis
has not promoted a USCF race in over 5 years and was on the verge of
losing our racing club status. In other words we would be like a
glorified riding club showing up in our pretty jerseys at Panera
committed only to our Saturday and Sunday rides. Most every other club
in town puts on a kick ass race except us. Celo, Ranchos, Cyclo-Vets,
SDBC all put on races that we attend and enjoy, and this year we have
the riders to win a few of those races!!!
This race started out as a Kam Zardouzian concept this time last year
and has picked up speed and now is a full on 4 race USCF series! Your
race council has work really hard these past few months to get us to
this stage. It is time to now figure out how you can be part of the
action too, your help is really needed to make this a class event
worthy of the riders' racing, the sponsors' spending, and Swamis
guruness (the Swaminess aliteration didn't make sense.)
If you feel ready, please e-mail myself or Dave Callendar (fearless
leader has committed to being the volunteer wrangler) back with a job
and time slot you would like to do. You can do more than one job too!
If you have any questions that's cool, just ask myself or Dave.
We are planning to have a volunteer party at Round Table Pizza in
Encinitas on Thursday, March 16th awt 6-30 PM. At that point the race
council would like to share the vision of what will happen on race day,
sign up any spots still need to be filled, schedule a dry run set-up to
become familiar with the venue and where things will go, and toast with
soda or beer the exciting time we will have in a little less than 4
weeks!!!!
Yours in Cycling Fun,
Geoff
