SSHA Members,
Just a reminder that our meeting is this Thurs. the 29th. It will be at Jay and
Betsy's which is MaSu's old farm. It is important that as many as possible show
up as we will be discussing the Breed Shows and where the group in general is
heading. Please be prompt at 7pm as no one wants a late night! Candy

Jay and Betsy Parco are really looking forward to meeting everyone in the SSHA.
They are wonderful people, and provide foaling, lay-up and training for
inspections. Once they get the riding rings brought back to usable condition,
they welcome people to come and ride there. I think you will like them
immensely. You may have already seen them, as they handled my sucklings at the
AHHA inspection for the past two years. I would like to brag that my foals were
#1 (8-8) and #2 (8-7)at the FL AHHA inspection! Jay also drives for BrookLedge
Horse Transport as a day job. He is fantastic with handling horses! Please
introduce yourselves to them when you arrive.

Betsy's son, Glenn in mentally handicapped. His jobs are mowing and checking
horses' water, every 45 minutes. and does them well. You may not see him at the
meeting since he is shy about large groups of people.

They have also allowed Phil to continue to live in his trailer on their
property, which is a blessing for Phil. That way there are always three people
there, and four when Jay is home. All patures and stalls will be under camera
and monitored 24/7. A large foaling stall will be built between now and January.
Also an air conditioned stall will be placed in the first barn, for summer
lay-up. They have great plans for the farm!

They just moved in this weekend, so please do not judge the property. It is a
work in progress!

not even SSHA members. The exhibitors seemed happy with the facilities and the

Due to Georgia maybe holding their shows Management for SSHA has decided NOT TO
CHARGE ANY FEES FOR CHANGES/ADDITIONS TO SSHA SHOWS IF SUBMITTED PRIOR TO
WED.SEPT.16th. We have done this to accommodate those of you trying to get the

We are holding our Aug.and Sept. meetings early to work on the Breed Show
Organization. The Aug. meeting is this coming Thurs.,13th,at MaSu's at
7pm.Again, I am asking everyone for their help.We have been working very hard to
make this special and need workers. Please contact MaryLou, Sandy W. or myself
if you are able to work. If you would like to sponsor a class/classes please

This Saturday, June 9, 2009,  Masu's son Eric is hosting a birthday party
luncheon for her. It's a  surprise. She is celebrating entering her 8th
decade!

Masu has  had a couple of tough months. She has macular degeneration and is
now  nearly blind. It has been very tough for this "old gal" to give up her
  fierce independence. She still has lots of spunk, though...

You  are invited to come visit and meet her son, see her horses, and

SSHA Members,
Our may meeting,Thurs. the 21st, will be at 7pm at MaSu's.
I am sorry to tell you that the breed classes at Tampa will not be happening. A
prominent member of the group was opposed because she feels the young horses
scare/spook the Dressage horses,get loose,etc. We pointed out examples of shows
that have run smoothly having these classes as well as Dressage classes. Even
saying the horses loose at some were Dressage horses not the ones there for the
Breed classes. It still was a no go! We tried! Of course we will have two shows
and the Regionals in Sept. Please volunteer to help! Can dy

SSHA Members,
There is a possibility that SDCTA will include core breed classes and Materiale
classes at their Aug.22nd and 23rd Dressage shows.They are holding two shows
then at the Tampa Fairgrounds which has ample stalls and rings. We will have to
supply workers as we did for the Sizzlers but it is an opportunity to get two
scores toward Horse of the Year points. They have to see if either of the judges
they have hired is able to judge breed classes. They may be willing to try to
hire someone close to judge if there is any interest. They have been asked by
people from Sarasota to hold breed classes also. We need to know if you will
support this to cover the cost of them holding two days of classes,one day of
classes? Please let Sandy Werner know3 as soon as possible if you are willing
and able to do this. Her email is hwcsandy@.... If we do this now and
it is successful I think they will continue to hold the classes. Thanks! Candy

We had a productive meeting and have the prize list about set. I will be calling
USDF to be sure to understand the Embryo Transfer Mare status wording.
For your info there will not be any Breed in Hand classes at the Summer Sizzler
due to extra work for the Secretary. I am hoping they will hold Materiale
classes. I will be in touch with Carly. Wendy will have Materiale classes at the
May Day Dressage Show she is having at Canterbury. Please get your entries in
right away. Those of you who are looking for opportunities for End of The Year
Awards we have two SSHA shows in Sept.and Georgia and the show in the Fl
Panhandle are other places you can get another score. Candy

SSHA April Meeting will be this Thursday 4/16/09 at MaSU's at 7pm. We will
discuss and firm up the prize lists for Sept. Breed shows. We need lots of
support in these hard times. Lisa D. has already got a jump on ads and sponsors.
If you have a banner you would like to hang ringside we are selling spaces this
