I'm in favor also.  In fact, I went to a party on Saturday night where I had already started the ball rolling on that same idea.  I've had pretty good response both on and off the list, and think we should have a pretty good turn out.

 

FYI, I went by Renfroe around 5:30 today, and the field was wide open. Given that it was beautiful today, I don't think we'll have much competition (and, as I said earlier, a Decatur High teacher is working on officially reserving the field anyway.)

need directions, check the fields page at the afdc.com website.

People arrive 5ish and play gets going not too long after. The past
couple of weeks we've ended about 7.

I'm really glad to see that there is discussion on how to protect the fields. Personally, i feel that it should not matter whether or not we use fields that the AFDC is using. We all live in the Atlanta community and there are a limited number of fields for use by all off us. If the fields are in danger of being torn up, then don't play. It that means that sometimes folks drive a distance and are disappointed, that is part of playing an outdoor sport. It happens to golfers and fisherman and tennis players.

Not only are these fields used by adults for sports, but these are still the fields that kids play on for school.  We should also remember that if we protect the fields they will only be better for us in the future. The weather in Atlanta is great and there will be other sunny days. H

Toomer isn't an option this summer due to Sunday evening goaltie.  And
it doesn't solve the problem of using fields used by AFDC.

about the repurcussions for the AFDC, since they use those fields for

fields, so if we tear them up it potentially hurts our (and AFDCs)
chances at fields all over the city. I'm just thinking that because
AFDC doesn't use Renfroe, if we tear the fields up there and get in
trouble there won't be consequences to anybody besides us.

state of the fields. This is a drag, because I know people are coming
from far away, and it is always a pain to drive all the way, just to

We did play at Renfroe last week, though I think it might be worth mentioning that I drove by Coan and there seemed to be a flag football tournament happening on both fields. I don't know if that is a one time thing, or a weekly event, but there was definately no space to play on Coan. I think Walker was open, though, but we might need CoA permission...
