Hi all,
For those who may not know it, today is the AFDC summer league's End of Season tournament. That means that most (theoretically: all) league players are up in Cumming finishing the season with their teams, and we typically have a fairly small turnout. If you're looking to get more playing time in, or are thinking of coming out for the first time in a while, it's a good time to come out in a more low key environment.
Following this weekend, though, things tend to pick up quite a bit. Fall league doesn't start back until September, (and is smaller than summer) so there's lots of league players around still sharp from the recent season and looking to continue playing. Club players, meanwhile, are getting ready for their series and will begin gearing up for Sectionals and Regionals later in the fall. I believe Jeannie is going to give Sequence (a co-ed Club team) another go this year, so look for her to bring them around from time to time. They typically practice on another part of the field from us, then many of them stick around for pickup after their workout.
This is the time of year that it's not uncommon for us to be able to run a second game, with lots of subs and sideline players. We're fortunate to have the space to do this, and it's a great environment to be around. If you want to sharpen your skills, get in better shape, or just hang out with some cool ultimate people, consider coming out. I think it's the best time of the year.
I've been playing league, so I haven't been out much, but I hope to be around more the next few weeks. Hope to see you out on the fields,
