Dear friends,
I wrote an article in The Tribune (Chandigarh) in
1983. Then I improved upon it and it was published in
a magazine of The Hindustan Times. As it concerned
players from India and Pakistan, I sent it to The
Muslim (Islamabad) and they also carried it with the
display it deserved. Then I realised that the article
deserved still better exposure and sent it to The
Cricketer International (UK). Within a week I got a
letter from the then Editor, Christopher
Martin-Jenkins (the noted BBC cricket commentator and
a member of the Test Match Special squad) telling me
that he had never seen such a well researched article.
He said that although the magazine was hard pressed
for space, nevertheless they were going to use it at
the earliest.
The article appeared as centre spread in that magazine
in it's July 1983 issue. Although it was published
over 23 years back, it is still very interesting to
read and I am sure you will all enjoy reading it. I am
attaching that article for your perusal.
