Cricketers love being involved with any kind of charity. It is another matter that they do not like talking about this openly. Well this is understandable, given the immense media glare in which they live. Former Australian skipper Steve Waugh supports a charity named Udayan which supports orphan children in West Bengal. In fact, he and his wife have adopted some kids and they fund their education.

Sachin Tendulkar is another cricketer who is very much involved in doing charity work. He sponsors more than 200 children, by taking care of their education and other needs. Like many cricketers, he is also not comfortable talking about this aspect of his personality. Rahul Dravid also known as “The Wall” is very active in working towards aids awareness. He has featured in many ads that speak about the needs for gaining aids knowledge. Besides this, he is also involved in working with several other charities.

As cricketers, they are highly competitive on the field while playing against their opposition. Despite their busy schedule, most of them are involved in some sort of charity or the other. This is a very good and healthy trend among cricketers as they help people who are under privileged. This is another side of cricketers that benefits many under privileged people.
