Thanks for the information.
I just ordered the computer game and can't wait for it
to get here. Then today I found out that there is a
store about 50 miles from home that carries
strat-o-matic games. I wish I had known because I
can't wait to get it. I want to have a mini-league
before the 2007 version comes out.
I printed out the computer rules (49 pages) and
thought that if I had to remember all of the different
scenarios like I did for the board game I'd go crazy.
You know, if you have 3 wide receivers you have to
decrease the pass block rating by 1 unless it's on a
Saturday and all the dice are 6's and the black die is
a D and blocking back's name starts with a J. I don't
see how anybody could keep all of those rules in your
head. I assume that the computer does all of that
logic for you.
The only thing that I worry about are some of the
penalty/injury/fumble type things. Like I saw where
you can spike the ball or do a kneel down, but there
is the possibility that there could be a fumble. How
many times have you seen a fumble on either a spike or
kneel down play? I don't think I've ever seen one and
I've watched quite a bit a football in my time.
I loved the C&D game way back when. I remember the
good times throwing the dice at my brother after he
beat me on a last second TD or FG and rubbed it in. I
still have that old game board and the cards. In
fact, one of my children was home visiting one weekend
and said, "Dad, let's play strat-o-matic!" I knew
then that I had brought my kids up right! :)
