Hi Matt,
This is what I did to get back into the game, after a 30 plus year hiatis. The
number one priority was to do something that I knew I could complete in a short
time span, like two or three weeks. I haven't purchased new teams since the
early '80s and I'm really attracted to the teams that I have from the '60s, '70s
and old-timers collection. So, I setup an 8 team bracket style tournament using
all of my 1971 teams -- 4 teams on one side "The West" and 4 teams on the other
"The East". The first round was 3 games, the second was 5 and the championship
was 7, played WS style.
Here is how it laid out: http://www.kwrhodes.com/somreplays.html
It took a little over two weeks to complete. As this was my first go'round in a
long time, I didn't worry too much about keeping stats beyond scoring the game
to see who won and who lost. It was tons of fun to play and being able to see
the goal really helped me stay focused. It took a couple of hours once or twice
a week. Mostly I played while my son and wife did their homework. He's in 7th
grade and she teaches.
Since my Strat order is still a few weeks away, I've setup another similar 8
team bracket tournament with a mix of teams from the old-timer's set, and the
60s, 70s & 80s. This time though I've added a preliminary round-robin style
seeding round where each team will play each other team once to determine the
seeding for the bracket. My goal here is to keep stats for each game, compile
them in Excel and make sure everything adds up correctly.
Oh one more thing, I played solitaire with cards and dice. Modified basic, but
mostly just letting the dice fall as they may without very much strategy.
Hope this helps and feel free to email me directly, if you'd like to discuss
ideas.
Ken

Subject: [Stratmat] How do you manage your solitaire leagues?
I was wondering how everyone here manages and stays on top of
solitaire league projects. I've yet to finish one (and started many),
wondered how many teams you should use, that sort of thing.
Any feedback would be welcome,
Matt
