Re: [Stratmat] Strat-o-matic rookie questions

Ebay would have many seasons or individual teams if you just want the cards. I
would buy the computer game if I were you, it will keep all the stats you want
to keep track of. People here can help you get started once you decide which
season you want to play.-Bruce

Subject: [Stratmat] Strat-o-matic rookie questions

I've scanned the 156 posts for these questions but didn't see any
answers so I'm going to create a new post. I'm new to the idea of
playing strat-o-matic though I remember seeing advertisments in my
comic books and Boy's Life magazines when I was a scout.

I played an early baseball computer game (Earl Weaver for the Amiga)
for many, many hours keeping track of the stats, league standings and
such. I've also played a few game console baseball games but found
their lack of stats distracting.

I would like to get into a more stat-based game and think strat-o-
matic is the one, however I have a few questions:

1. What do I need to get going. (ie. What's a 'starter set'??)

2. Where's a good (discount?) place to find this? The www.stat-o-
matic.com website is difficult to navigate and has lots of
information without answering any of my questions.

3. Is there a good source of on-line, free documentation about how
the game is played?

thanks,
Louis

... Well ... maybe for an out-of-print team from the 1970 or '80s, it is. But for a new team?? Heck no! Individual teams from the game company cost between $1...

Well as a Sox fan you really need the 1999 team with the best Carlton Fisk and Carl Yastrzemski cards along with a really good Rico Petricelli. In 1980 Fred...

There may be some confusion, Fisk's last year in a Red Sox uniform is 1980 and Yaz's last year was 1983. Rico Petrocelli's last year with the Sox was 1976....
