Fellow list members:
Strat-O-Sphere has released the voting so far in the Strat Fan Forum poll of
what season Strat should reproduce in 2008. (As we all know by now, the 1971
season is planned for 2007.) Although only 304 votes were tabulated in time for
the article, four front-runners have definitely emerged of the 10 seasons in the
running.
Not surprisingly, the two most popular seasons are those with the most
historical significance. Front-runner 1951 has almost a quarter of the total
votes, while second-place 1919 has about 18 percent. 1953 and 1924 could still
be considered dark horses, but personally, I think it's a two-season race at
this point. If Strat wants to market an interesting product, it will have a far
easier time with, say, 1951 than it would with 1924. :-)
The poll also shows me a clear lack of interest in pre-World War II seasons,
with the obvious exceptions of 1919 and 1924. This seems to be good news to
those of us who want super-advanced versions of seasons from the '60s, '70s and
'80s. If interest in "the old days" is virtually nonexistent, Strat will be more
inclined to reproduce modern-era seasons, which its customers have made clear
they *do* want.
