Colleagues:
Looking for an old season set, cheap? The game company is once again
unloading its excess inventory for a song. Certain baseball, football,
basketball and hockey sets can be had for $10 each, or three for $25.
Such a deal! (Alas, the 1995 baseball set isn't included. But
interestingly, it apparently is still available -- for full price.)

On another subject, the company has announced that preorders for the
2005 baseball season will be taken beginning Tuesday, Dec. 20. Mark
your calendars! This is going to be another keeper season, highlighted
of course by a world champion Chicago team for the first time since
1917. It was nice to even have a Chi-town squad in the Series for the
first time since the Eisenhower administration. And who'd they beat in
the Series? The Houston Astros, making their first-ever series
appearance. But the also-ran teams aren't too shabby either, with five
American League teams with at least 93 wins. The National League is a
little less competitive, to put it politely, but it does have the best
Phillies team since the 1993 pennant-winner. The St. Louis Cardinals,
the majors' only 100-game winner, had another outstanding season, even
without Scott Rolen. Can't wait to check out the pitching staffs of
the Cards and Astros. I'm also curious to see if A-Rod will get a Gold
Glove-level fielding rating at shortstop again!
