DAMN IT!! if there was fencing to the death I would SO be there! what
happened to the good old days.
Speaking of which i miss the good old days. Does some one have a
sweat shirt i ordered?
Ive got money....

true.. i've been thinking about the officer thing...
as president i really dont DO anything specifically...
there was nothing that got passed down to me from the
former president and really there should be.
Besides just electing officers we should lay down some
responsibilities that follow...
i dont disagree with Chrissy at all...

Brantley: I definitely think that the idea for all of us to go down
and introduce ourselves would be a good idea. And I'm up for that
whenever you guys want.
Mindi: i'm down for going to say thank you, etc. when would everyone
want to go? would we have to set up a meeting or would it be a "just
dropped by" kind of thing?. if we can go whenever we can go on
wednesday when there's preceptor advising before we go to the imax.
or if not im free on mon and wed between 4:30 - 7:30.
Nic: i have the attendance book... i will try to find a time to drop
by and see them if we do not go as a group- so they can see our
attendance
Chrissy: I think we need to do more than just that. This situation
is a lot deeper than what some would like to think. Not that it's
anyone's fault... but it will be all our fault's if we stand by and
do nothing.
I think (and feel free to disagree and say so) our steps should be:
1. Elect (notice elect, not fence to the death) new officers (at
least two).
2. Fleche out a real constitution.
3. Meet with Chambers (aka. beat our heads into the wall).
4. Brainstorm and plan fundraisers.
5. Plan our table for Club Fair next semester. And therefore, HAVE a
table.
The first three should be done ASAP before the end of April. The
others can be handled in a "fire at will" fashion. But I feel we
really need to build from the ground up if we want to show Chambers
how serious we are about the club.
Like I said, feel free to disagree... we're all mature (*ahem*)
college students.
On Tuesday of this week, I had a meeting with Lonnie Folks, Director
of Athletic Operations( the college department that sanctions the
club and provides the budget ). He ask about the club and what things
the school was doing well and not so well.
I told him our biggest items are having a area to fence consistently
without being cancelled and our equipment.
There wasn't much he can do right now about space, other then getting
us into a alternate area when we can't use big blue.
He also said the was some small amount of remaining budget for this
year and a small window for response, so I put in for the things I
thought we needed most, a couple of large size jackets ( size 57 )
and some replacement saber blades. I just got a Email from Paul
Chambers that he will be ordering the items today.
I think it would be a nice gesture on your part to take some time and
speak with Lonnie and Paul and say that you appreciate there efforts.
I have said this before, but we do need some visibility of the club
with the higher ups that supply the budget. Since we meet at night,
after they have left, they don't really get to see what we do and our
numbers. To colleges, everything is about the numbers, the more
visibility we have and we show are club is supporting a large number
of students, the more we can get budget wise. So take a little time
and schedule a meeting with Lonnie and Paul. They have offices on the
thrid floor of big blue next to each other. Do it as a group or by
yourself. Just introduce your self as a student, and tell them how
much you like having fencing at Stockton. Thank them for getting us
some items we really needed. Some one bring them the attendance book
and show it to them show how we are keeping track and our numbers. A
little of you time invested now will pay bigger rewards at budget
time.
You guys really need be doing this and thinking of addition ways of
funding the equipment. I know there has been some discussion of fund
raisers, but they need to be more then ideas. Another epee blade was
broken last night, This was one of the new blades that we got this
semester. As a whole, your fencing skills have been degrading and
most of you are not interested in working on any of the fundamentals,
so it natural outcome there will be more broke equipment. If you
don't work on one or both these items, you will quick find yourself
without any usable electoral or dry weapon. It is all really up to
you.
I would like to ask someone please cross post this to Stockton
fencing facebook, because that seem to be the other big hangout.
All,
I was told that there is a good chance we can't use Big Blue tonight
because of set up for the concert. If that is the case, look for use in
the racquetball courts
Bruce
So last night was a guys only night and we actuly accomplished alot
more by ourselves. At the dinner we discussed world situations,
movies. comady, and were able to say/do what we wanted with out fear
of reprocussions or wet laps. Its sort of like Vegas....W"hat happened
at the diner stays at the diner" except for a few thing I'm going to
let slide for the good of the group.
1. Brantly and I threw a coup d'etat and are now in charge. In doing
so the constitution was revised so that if the current leader is not
able to accept the challange they automaticly forfit.
2. Fndraising. We established a plan to make money for the club that
is currently in the works having the wrinkles ironed out. These will
include shirts and other items of clothing (some of wich are pictured
in the files section). Some members may not agree to some things but
just rember....you dont like it you dont have to buy one...but there
is a market and things should sell like hot cakes.
This week is our spring break so there is no fencing on either day but
we will be back in business on the 19th.
Hey Missy the Game is the 24th. Give your money to either me or Erick.
We still havent decided about times or carpooling but we will let you
know. I hope the apartment shopping is going well.
Sorry, I don't date outside my species!
Sorry, I already have one of your type in my collection.
I work for a mortician, and I am trying to drum up some sales.

As I have mentioned Quaker Bridge Mall has a speed-dating thing going
on this week. I don't know who actually expects to meet the love of
their life at one of these things, but I think it could be very
entertaining.
"So how much dating experience have you had?"
"Do you have a resume?"
"I can't be in a relationship with anyone who wears a size 11 shoe.
It is against my religious beliefs."
"Do you have references from your previous girlfriends?"
"I am sorry; I don't date people whose favorite color is green."
And I like Bruce's, "do you have proof of income?"
What lines can you guys think up of?
After practice on Thursday, the origin of the word OK was brought up. I took the liberty to do some research.
In 1840 the OK Club used O.K. as an election slogan for Democratic president Martin Van Buren's to allude to his nickname Old Kinderhook because Martin Van Buren was born in the N.Y. village of Kinderhook. Martin "Old Kinderhook" Van Buren lost the election, but the word stuck probably because it filled a
need for a quick way to write an approval on a document, bill, etc.
Chrissy touched on this in our diner discussion but the origins of O.K. goes back further than that.
The letters OK actually come from a very brief fad for comical abbreviations that flourished in the late 1830s and 1840s in Boston and New York. OK stands for "oll korrect." Other popular abbreviations were OW "oll wright," KG "know yuse," KG "know go," and NS "nuff said." OK is the only surviving a slang abreviation from this fad.

I just wanted you guys to know I actually heard the Dead Puppies song
on the radio this am on the way to work. 95.1 I think it was. It
seems like the Dead Puppies song might become mainstream. Just
remember you heard it here 1st.
Work is going well. That Chemist is still talking to the machines.
Today he was saying, "I think I am falling for you". Sounds like he
is getting really attached to that Mass Spec or he spent too much
time in paint room without turning on the ventilation…. again. I
wonder what is going to happen when he finishes repairing this Mass
Spec and has to send it back to the client. He was also giving
his, "why are you doing this to me?" speech to the Mass Spec and he
was also saying to it, "how dare you speak that way to me". Never a
dull moment with this guy. I can't wait to see what he says tomorrow.
There was a temp guy Ryan that worked at Alpha over Christmas break.
He is a Bio student at Stockton. He didn't know we had a fencing
club and he wants to learn to fence. However, he says he doesn't
know if he has time to come out this semester. It's either he really
is busy studying for the MCATs, or I scared him away.
i am assuming it is thursday... at 8 in big blue
