On Tuesday of this week, I had a meeting with Lonnie Folks, Director
of Athletic Operations( the college department that sanctions the
club and provides the budget ). He ask about the club and what things
the school was doing well and not so well.

I told him our biggest items are having a area to fence consistently
without being cancelled and our equipment.

There wasn't much he can do right now about space, other then getting
us into a alternate area when we can't use big blue.

He also said the was some small amount of remaining budget for this
year and a small window for response, so I put in for the things I
thought we needed most, a couple of large size jackets ( size 57 )
and some replacement saber blades. I just got a Email from Paul
Chambers that he will be ordering the items today.

I think it would be a nice gesture on your part to take some time and
speak with Lonnie and Paul and say that you appreciate there efforts.
I have said this before, but we do need some visibility of the club
with the higher ups that supply the budget. Since we meet at night,
after they have left, they don't really get to see what we do and our
numbers. To colleges, everything is about the numbers, the more
visibility we have and we show are club is supporting a large number
of students, the more we can get budget wise. So take a little time
and schedule a meeting with Lonnie and Paul. They have offices on the
thrid floor of big blue next to each other. Do it as a group or by
yourself. Just introduce your self as a student, and tell them how
much you like having fencing at Stockton. Thank them for getting us
some items we really needed. Some one bring them the attendance book
and show it to them show how we are keeping track and our numbers. A
little of you time invested now will pay bigger rewards at budget
time.

You guys really need be doing this and thinking of addition ways of
funding the equipment. I know there has been some discussion of fund
raisers, but they need to be more then ideas. Another epee blade was
broken last night, This was one of the new blades that we got this
semester. As a whole, your fencing skills have been degrading and
most of you are not interested in working on any of the fundamentals,
so it natural outcome there will be more broke equipment. If you
don't work on one or both these items, you will quick find yourself
without any usable electoral or dry weapon. It is all really up to
you.

I would like to ask someone please cross post this to Stockton
fencing facebook, because that seem to be the other big hangout.
