A few weeks after withdrawing from the European Championships, Stéphane announced his return to the competition for the coming World Championships in Tokyo (March 19-25). He will perform a new short program to the soundtrack of "Blood Diamond" and will try to keep the World title for a third year in a row. Brian Joubert, Daisuke Takahashi, Evan Lysacek, Jeffrey Buttle and Nobunari Oda, among others, will give him a good run for his money though, in what should be a very close competition.

I think if he's feeling burned out, he should take a little break. I imagine competing at this
level is tough emotionally as well as physically. They have to give up so much in their personal lives. Part of what makes Stephane such a great skater is that he brings so much emotion into his performance and if he's not feeling it, it's not going to be there. I don't think he should try to force it. I think a little vacation will likely be good for him and really, that's what it is. He's not saying he's quitting for good.
