Re: [srttc] Mark West Lodge table tennis

I spent over an hour talking with the owner of Mark West Lodge and with his friend from Los Angeles who is basically the one behind the table tennis offering. No charge for playing at the present. You don't need to eat dinner in order to play, but if they continue to have no charge it would be nice to at least pay for something to drink from the bar (non-alcoholic stuff is, as usual, also available at the bar).

Right now, they have 2 tables and the room is a little bit better than most garage tables. The tables are great, the nets are flimsy, the balls are OK, the loaner paddles are not so good, the light is good but the ceiling stuff is pretty low, and the room behind the tables is like what we have with the Detroiter tables at the end of the gym (a little short for the stronger players).

Last Thursday I watched about 8-10 people from the restaurant play for a short while each. Never longer than a short wait. If it gets busier the play time may have to be limited, and/or doubles initiated. I should be there from at least 7pm next Thursday July 12.

The room is right in the front as you enter from the parking lot. The restaurant is easy to find since there is NOTHING else around. The place stays in business mostly from renting out for events and weddings. They do want more people to be aware of the place again as the Mark West Lodge has been there for decades off-and-on before its present reincarnation.

Hello David

The web Site has been updated as of the 5th, I added your ditty from the bulk e-mail, It was good to see you do that. So whats up with the Mark West place? Do you need to eat dinner to play at the location? or is it open to the public? How many players do they have most times if you visit? ... Next Thursday we were thinking of checking it out. How do we find the room or bar when we get there?

Again sorry for not getting the site updated before we left. I totally missed it... ( frown). Once we get the DSL speeds re-setup here at the house I will mostlikley direct the domain back to my computer,

Tim

In Santa Rosa area the Mark West Lodge (6 to 10 minutes East from Hwy
101) on Mark West Springs Rd, where Mark West changes to Porter Creek
Rd, has 2 relatively OK tables available on Thursday evenings (from
about 5pm on), when they are open for light meals. They told me that
they will be closed however on July 5.
