This past Saturday, the Ueshiro SRKUSA Cocoa YMCA Dojo in Florida held its February testing.  The training and testing lasted 3 hours, spanning 21 tested deshi.  3 more deshi will test this coming Tuesday.  The testing was led by Sensei Oscarson and Sensei Tamir, co-Shihan.  Other Black Belts supporting the testing included guest Shihan of the Cocoa Beach Dojo, Sensei Chaskelson, and Sensei Marchetti and Ms. Carla Eddy.

 

The Cocoa YMCA Dojo is proud of all its 50+ active deshi who have been coming a long way on the path of Karate-Do.  It clearly showed on the test in the high quality of their kata and warrior spirit.  Our dojo now has 8 new San-Kyu (brown tips), 6 new Yon-Kyu (greenbelts), 5 new yellow belts (advanced Go-Kyu under 18), and several up and coming new deshi.  Our dojo’s foundation is getting rooted deeper.

 

Deshi Brad Brubaker, who successfully tested for San-Kyu, was honored as “Ichiban” (# 1 deshi) for his best outstanding performance and spirit.

 

Today, I also had the pleasure of attending the spirited 3 hour training and testing at our sister dojo at Cocoa Beach, under the leadership of Sensei Des Chaskelson and Sensei Kurt Tezel. 

 

This February has been quite a month full of “Joy and Vigor” here at both our Florida dojo[s], starting with our SRKUSA special training and Black Belt testing weekend (Feb 4-5) and now ending with our own deshi testing this past weekend.
