The following press release will be sent to the Florida Today on Monday – please review to make sure that if you attended your name is on the list and spelled correctly (please contact me if not):

 

Five Brevard Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate Schools participated as a major sponsor of the "Get Active! Brevard" fitness showcase in Viera held on Saturday April 26th, contributing gift certificates valued at over $2500 for karate classes for local kids. 

 

The "Get Active" seminar and fair at the Viera Parks and Recreation Center was put on by the Brevard Healthcare Forum and Brevard Parks and Recreation Department -- other major sponsors included: American Heart Association, Brevard County Health Department, Children's Medical Services, Circles of Care, Coastal Health Systems, Cumulus Broadcasting, Florida Institute of Technology, Health First, Incredible Edibles, National Health Review magazine, and others.

 

The five Brevard Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate schools participating were: Viera, Suntree, Cocoa Beach, Cocoa, and Merritt Island. Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate students participated in workouts and karate demonstrations led by the head of Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA, tenth degree black belt and local Viera resident, Hanshi Robert Scaglione.

 

The following black belts assisted Hanshi Scaglione: Sensei David Tamir, Director Suntree Karate; Sensei Des Chaskelson, Director Cocoa Beach Karate; Sensei Kurt Tezel, Director Merritt Island Karate; Sensei Tom DuJardin; Sensei Ron Marchetti; and Sempai Joe Motro. The following local Brevard karate students showed up to volunteer their time and karate skills and to support the "Get Active! Brevard" event: Pat Marchetti, Danielle Delgado; Connor La Montagne; Roy HIll; Lori Brunette; Kathleen Lemire; Helena Denemark; Elise Reaves; Jordon Tomberlin; Jeff Tomberlin; David Laderwarg; Steven Clark; Anthony Clarke; Wade Parker; Sarah Parker; Danny Parker; Mark Mariani, Marilyn Mariani; Kiani Mariani; Maleko Mariani; Michael  Motro; Gannon Avery; Rick Cupoli; Brandon Springsten; Matt Snodgrass; Ricky Cupoli.
