Greetings Hanshi,

…….and all participants of Florida 2006.

 

First off; Domo Arigato, Florida Shihan, Black belts and deshi,

for such a wonderful experience of true Ueshiro Shorin Ryu Karate.

I felt I was in “The Halls of Giants!”

 

We all witnessed a wonderful display of karate, zen and Durango beef.

 

If I was to take away anything from this week-end, it would be

The power demonstrated in some of the specific techniques.

 

For example Sensei Mackay while demonstrating kata: Chinto, his

Kyobu morote shuto-uchi, (chest double knife hand strike),

cracked the air because of his tight shuto hand.

 

Performing Passai, Sensei Preston Powell’s tight fisted down blocks

Backed up by bolstered rotating hips shattered the thick gloss coat of the gymnasium floor.

 

 The twisting wrist of Sensei Gobillot’s reverse punch in pre-arranged fighting,

 knocked a cinderblock out of the side wall of the building.

 

My point being, the specifics of our karate, the precision needed to execute the

isolated technique in tandem with the rest of the moves are so vitally important to

our system, in fact it is rope on our patch that binds us all together.

 

 Hanshi reminded us Shihan the importance and the discipline required to maintain, implement

and execute the “specifics” in all our technique, it is this principle that is paramount to our organization.

 

 We humbly thank you Hanshi for your watchful Gan!

 You are the true Watcher of the Gates of the Temple.
