I am pleased to announce the results of our February 27, 2007 green belt test.

Have both successfully passed their test for the new rank of Yon-Kyu (Green Belt)

 

Domo Arigato to all who showed up and supported the two deshi as they tested for their new rank. Keep in mind, that on test day you receive a green belt to wear. From this day forward, you now seek and train to "earn" your rank.

 

One of the greatest things that distinguish our system from other sytems...is not only that we test to display our basic techniques and katas, but that we also test to see our knowledge of our sytem and it's heritage.

 

It is so important that we know our katas and our techniques, but our "red book" and "green book" also have a wealth of knowledge that is just as important in knowing what is in their pages.

 

Everytime I visit or get a chance to talk with students who train in another system or martial art..it's amazing how many don't even know where their Sensei is from, who their Sensei's Sensei was, who the founder of their system is, who composed the kata they just performed, Where their martial art originated from, what the symbols on their patches mean, etc.

 

We are very fortunate to have a founder like Grand master Ansei Ueshiro and a strong leader like Hanshi Robert Scaglione to direct us in both our kata and our roots.

 

Let's all keep moving forward!
