The arrows on the road indicate that they changed the route. They go from the
bike transition area, left onto Highway 30; turn left at Albertson's (Pommerelle
Ave.); turn right onto 16th Street; turn left at Hiland Ave ; continue south for
6 miles to 600 South; turn left into 600 South; continue East for 6 miles (now
you are on the same route as last year); turn left at 650 East, continue 6 miles
to Highway 81; head west back to the Burley Boat Docks. Does that make sense?
Of course, it's always a good idea to drive the course if you can... Good Luck
to everyone on Saturday!

Thanks, Dave!

My wife and I have been concerned about planning for a new route.  It's kind of
nice to know what to plan for mentally ahead of time.  So, no problems with your
tires out there?

My wife and I took our bikes on the route last Saturday. I didn't notice any
different on the road from the last two times I've ridden on it during the
actual race.

Heck, I don't even know what "chip/seal" really means....but the road seemed
fine to me (except for that dang railroad track!).

I never received an email from active or from anyone organizing the spudman, and
I can't get a hold of anyone up there.

I just periodically checked the status to see if I was selected, and it said
yes.

I emailed active, and they referred me back to the spudman people, and they
don't respond...

There was a deadline of, I believe, April 30th or something like that to
complete registration. I cannot remember for sure but I think it was in the
initial email that told us we had been selected. It may have been on the
registration form also but I can't remember if that was the case or not. I will
have to look back and see if I still have the info. Anyway, after the deadline
passed, they did a second wave and let in other athletes. You may want to
contact someone about it and let them know what happened and see if anything can
be done! That is frustrating for you! I'm sorry!

What deadline would that be?

The only email for contact on the spudman website isn't responding to traffic.

I click on the link to see if I was selected for the lottery. I put in my name,
it says yes.

I click on the next link to proceed with registration. I can't continue because
my name isn't listed.

There are no mention of any deadlines whatsoever anywhere on the site, or (lack
of) any email traffic.

Anyone have any insight?

nik

that some of those selected did not complete registration by the deadline which
left more open spots. I got in originally but 2 of my training buddies didn't,
but both got the same email, so we are all excited! Good luck!

Ok, I don't know what's going on here.

I was selected for the lottery, and my name doesn't appear in the drop down list
for registration. What's going on here?

April, most people do wear wetsuits. You can always rent one if you aren't sure
about making the investment to purchase one. Many wetsuit places that rent will
take the rental amount off your purchase if you do decide to buy one at a future
time. However, if you DO rent one and haven't been swimming in one before (or
recently for that matter), try to get it several days in advance and swim in it
a few times first. Swimming in a wetsuit is very, very different.

The transition area is where you change and nope, there is no privacy. Most
people will wear tri suits or tri tanks/shorts under their wetsuits, strip the
wetsuit off and go. That's the way to go if you ask me.

And in my experience, no one does just one ;) You'll likely be an instant addict
like the rest of us hehe...

really want to purchase one for a one time thing.  What are the transition areas
like - is there privacy for changing or what you wear in the swim is what you
wear for the biking and running?
