Hello Tiff30111,
I would definitely train for the swim if I were you. It is downstream and easier than it would be otherwise, but unless you plan to float, and only exert enough energy to swim back to shore, then you will want to prepare yourself for the swim. I have heard others say it is about equivilant to a 3/4 mile swim, in terms of how long it will take. (Maybe less)
Good luck.

This will be my first triathlon, and wanted to know what kind of
training I should do for the swim portion. I am not a very good
swimmer, but can bike and run well. Since we are swimming with the
current, does this make it a lot easier which means I don't need to
train or worry about it as much. Any tips or suggestions whould be
great.
Thanks!
