Please be reminded that our meeting will be held tomorrow, November 18, 2004, 7:00PM at theWok Hong Chow Chinese Restaurant located at Lilac St. Marikina.
AGENDA
Follow-ups on our designated work assignments in connection with forthcoming tournament
Approval of the Sports Hub Badminton Logo
Christmas Party and First General Membership Meeting
PRESENT: Nick, Boni, Malou, Linda, Milan, Portia, Shirly, Tina
ABSENT: Det, Aya
We have decided to organize the First Sports Hub Badminton Club Invitational Tournament as our very first project. January 22 and 23 have been chosen as our TOURNAMENT DATES.
In preparation for the tournament, the decision to meet every 2 weeks has been reached and the lead person for each meeting will be rotated among the officers and board members. Meetings will be set on Thursdays instead of Saturdays for everybody's convenience. Meeting leader will be responsible for sending out meeting reminder to all concerned, the meeeting agenda and venue. A minimum of 7 confirmed attendees will comprise a quorum for the meeting to push through. Our next MEETING will be on NOV. 18 and Milan has volunteered to be the next meeting leader.
Follow-ups from the last meeting:
- Officers and board members still have to recruit/convince others to formalize their club membership. Previous commitment of 3 recruits per officer still stands. We now have only a total of 27 recognized members despite the large turnouts on some Tuesdays.
-Boni has already come up with a logo for our club. He will bring it to our next meeting for the final approval of the group. In the meantime, he will post a logo in our egroup web page for all to see. Having set the date for our tournament, Boni will develop the streamers/posters to advertise our tournament.
-Malou has started her inquiry with the different badminton magazines/newspapers on the ADs we can place for the tournament. She will give the group an update next meeting.
-Det to please finalize sponsorship letter and post in the egroup file section so we could start looking for sponsors.
-Portia has been able to get verbal agreement from Smart for sponsorship. Will finalize this when the sponsorship letter becomes available
-Nick's update on Food/Awards venue is the feasibility of doing this with a budget of Php120-150 as long as venue is free (i.e. parking lot/garden of Sports Hub)
We all agreed to have our FIRST GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING on December 19 (Sunday). Right after our meeting we will have our Christmas Party/Mini Tournament. We are requesting Aya to take the lead in organizing this event.
We will be coming up with a Sports Hub BC T-shirt for a minimal cost of Php100 to members. Part of the shirt cost will be subsidized by our Club fund. Single members can buy 1 shirt while Family members can buy 2 shirts at the subsidized price. Should members want to buy more shirts, they could, but at a higher price. We will be requesting the help of Det and of club member Lisa Villasenor to make this happen.
My friends and me are planning to go to Cebu this coming January 2005 just to watch the sinulog festival, since there is an invitation for the fortcoming badminton tourney to be held in the same place and for the same events, (how i wish to be a part of it ), would that be possible for me to join the group? i would appreciate it very much if you can give me all the information regarding the said events, together with the application and the exact amount fees needed.

Hi all! I uploaded a photo of the Youth Club taken last 10-23-2004 before
the kids left for the Toby's tournament opening. The original full size 4
MP file is available for download in the "Photos" link in the sports hub
egroup website for those who may want to print, though the file is quite
big, 2272 x 1704, 1.6 MB.
As far as i know the most lucrative business now a days is food, because everyone needs it, and inline with your business which is the badminton arena, where in, people after playing, crave for food or looking for something to eat, they will immediately run to your ilongo heaven to satify their empty stomach, specially me i am always eaty!!!!! hehehehe
and the sumptous foods that you have enumarated seem to be tasty and delicious, you mentioned chiken inasal and la paz bachoy happens to be my favorite.
Pricing is one of the factors that you should consider in putting up a (food) business, is must be suited to the budget of everybody, kahit kaunti and servings tapos masarap naman sa panslasa at mura pa wow patok yan sa takilya, anyway most of the hub's clienteles naman eh well off kayang kaya ang presyo mo siguro....
Good luck sa business mo, Chibugan na!!!!!!!

Tina and I are thinking about developing the front part of the sports hub lot facing the rotonda and Liwasang Kalayaan , which is now being used as a parking lot . The lot on the other side of the road fronting the court entrance will be then converted into a parking lot.
Plan A would be to put a Red Ribbon there but it doesn't look good. Red Ribbon does not seem to be interested in Metro Manila franchise stores. However we still hope to change their minds.
We would like ask for your opinion on Plan B:
1) The place will be called "Ilonggo Heaven".
2) In Ilonggo Heaven you can:
a) Eat really authentic Ted's Lapaz Batchoy. There will be a choice of 20 kinds of batchoy.
b) Authentic chicken inasal.
c) Snacks from the famous El Ideal Bakery and Cafe in Silay, Negros. Where the world's best buko pie is made. Also available are biscocho, pinasugbo, piyaya, puto manapla and other classic ilonggo goodies.
It is important for us to know your opinion because the most important customers of any establishment that we set up are of course going to be patrons of the sports hub. What do you think ? Is Ilonggo Heaven something that you would patronize regularly ? Would really appreciate your comments.

Thanks for asking our opinion... The Ilonggo heaven should be ok.. BADDICTs will not just be your primary target market then but it will be more diverse and specialized market.
However, another option may also be a nice deli and or a cozy snack bar which will serve as a nice lounging area for us, BADDICTS. This concept may not limit you to a specialized menu but you can go for variety and easy to cook and serve meals,(something similar to a typical "club-house").
May I just share with you some nice one's I have seen so far near badminton courts:
1. "Becky's Kitchen" inside Valle Verde 1 Badminton and basketball courts - they serve pasta, pizza, gourmet sandwiches, nice pastries and goodies. quite cozy, and the selection is extensive enough; prices are reasonable as well (I believe that this is a franchise from the original Becky's kitchen in Vito Cruz known for its heavenly brownies, etc)
2. The concept of the cafeteria cum lounge area at the Olympic and Yonnex are ok ; the menu though is nothing great
3. You might also want to check "Mom and Tina's" a small hole in a wall cafeteria near San Jacinto's. As this They have good coffee, pastries, paella, pasta, etc. This area used to be a "bowlodrome" so it used to cater to bowling aficionados until the owners converted it to a restaurant.
With best regards,
Det

About your market research, it is okay to put a "llonggo heaven", but i think better if you will not concentrate only in illongo foods. As you have said, your most important customers are those playing regulary in the Hub, thus, am sure magsasawa sila sa foods. Maybe you can offer a variety of foods like : spaghetti(kids) barbeque, etc.
thanks.

OFFICERS MEETING
Saturday October 16, 2004
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This event repeats every other week, until Sunday December 5, 2004.
Event Location: To be announced
Hope you still have time time to check your email despite your hectic (badminton) schedules. Just wanted to announce that we have a new web address http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/sportshub-bc. Our new e-groups email address is sportshub-bc@yahoogroups.com.
Happy Smashing! Tina
P.S. By the way, Teng was requesting for Thursday Queuing. We could try queuing 2 courts for Thursdays. WHAT SAY YOU?
I think I can speak for my group that we are amenable to queuing on
Thursdays. We do play on Thursdays so it would be better if there will be
more people to play with.

Thanks Portia for the info! Will be glad to get even just the Nike shirt as token!!!
Seems like November and December will also be the "peak" season for these badminton tournaments. If we stick to our orig sched. my fear is that the SPORTS HUB CLUB might loose out on the possible participants because of major brands like Nike as major sponsors in a similar event scheduled on the same date as our planned tournament. Ergo, the CLUB might have to subsidize most of the expenses if we do not get enough participants and or sponsors. If push comes to shelve, the dates are really internal to us and can be moved as we see appropriate, of course bearing in mind the best interest of the club and its members.
Guess we all need to talk this week! Again, thanks for the update!

Det
