Dear Jamie and others,
I do believe in practical experience and scientific evidences.
From practical experience, I supervised strength training exercises for one
triathletes who also used to run Eco Motion and similar kind of runs there
in Brazil. His results improved after beginning a strength training
associated with stretching exercises. I know that for most of you it is just
a single case which does not allow us to conclude on the benefits of
strength training for endurance athletes.
I know that we still do not have enough scientific evidences, but for the
interested, see Minahan et al. (2008) in the Euro J Appl Physiol.
In my opinion this is a great topic for research and we need people
interested on this topic to improve the scientific knowledge about cycling.
