PhD Scholarship in Physiology
A PhD scholarship is being offered to undertake a series of projects examining
exercise intolerance in Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD).
The successful applicant will join a well-established group that includes
researchers and clinicians at various institutions. The current research is
being funded and conducted through the Faculty of Science, Health and Education
at the University of the Sunshine Coast, the Department of Vascular Surgery at
the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and the School of Medicine at the
University of Queensland.
Applicants should have an Honours (I or IIA) or research Masters degree.
Various aspects of skeletal muscle metabolism and morphology, muscle function
and blood flow will be investigated. Applicants should have experience in
physiology, biochemistry and/or exercise physiology and the capacity to learn
new techniques in these areas.
This position will be co-supervised by Associate Professor Philip Walker and Dr
Chris Askew, and is available for commencement by April 2007.
