Ithaca College
Graduate Program in Exercise and Sport Sciences
Graduate Study and Assistantships
DEGREE: Master of Science (M.S.)
AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION:
Exercise Physiology
Human Performance
Sport Psychology
The Department awards graduate assistantships each academic year.
Graduate assistants receive a tax free scholarship which partially
offsets tuition costs in addition to a salary for working between
twelve and fifteen hours per week. Examples of graduate
assistantship duties include working in the exercise and sport
science laboratories and classrooms, athletic training rooms, the
Ithaca College Fitness Program, and assisting with Ithaca College
coaching duties. Many of the students in the Exercise & Sport
Sciences Graduate Program receive some form of financial aid.
CURRICULUM:
All three areas of specialization offer a thesis and non-thesis
option. The thesis option provides the opportunity for in-depth
analysis of a research problem helping to prepare the student for
advanced study. The non-thesis option requires 36 credits of
coursework affording the student extensive study in their area of
specialization. Each student's program is tailored to their
individual needs, and all options permit pursuit of independent
study, if desired. This is all made possible by working closely
with an academic advisor and other knowledgeable faculty.
APPLYING:
Application for admission may be submitted at any time and will be
processed when received. Graduate Assistantships are usually
awarded from March to June for the following academic year. For
