Special Interest Group about fatigue during prolonged exercise   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2737 of 3439 |
Dear colleague,

The aim of this email is to present a new Special Interest Group
about "fatigue during prolonged exercise" that could help us to
develop exchanges on this topic, both during congresses and in a
virtual way (web site, exchange of papers & data, ...).

It is expected that researchers from different scientific
backgrounds (psychology, physiology, neuro-physiology, biomechanics,
motor control, muscle biology, biochemistry, ...) will discuss about
the mecanisms of fatigue during prolonged exercises and the way to
minimise it.

Since fatigue is a very large resarch field, some first limits could
be suggested :
- acute fatigue (thus not overtraining)
- mainly human exercise in which aerobic metabolism is the major
energy system implied. No superior limits (ultra-endurance)
- fundamental researches about fatigue mechanisms & applied research
on fatigue in all endurance sports : running (track and field, road,
trail), cycling, hiking, nordic walking, cycling, swimming, cross-
country skiing, triathlon, kayaking, rowing, orienteering, ...
However, it would not be a group dedicated to endurance sports in
general (e.g. not the place to talk about training methodology).
- studies about equipment allowing a fatigue reduction and clinic
research could be integrated.

We are already working on the web site. If you are interested,
please email (guillaume.millet@...) your :
- Name :
- Institution :
- Title :
- Have you published on this topic ? If yes, give the references of
your 3 major publications or better, email the pdf.
- Would you intend to be an active member or only to follow the
exchanges developed by this group ?
- Are you aware of the existence of a group working on a topic
similar to this one ?

Please write if you have any question or suggestion. And please
forward this email to your colleagues who could be interested by
this group.

Sincerely yours,

Guillaume Millet
